Week 4: Jacksonville Jaguars @ Denver Broncos - Minshew Mania (Jalen who???)

Fournette needed again like this. Especially after a take like the one below:

Lenny was trying to break one every play instead of just punishing defenses like he's built to do and stick his foot in the ground and go.

This week, he did the latter. If he can continue to do that...

We COULD be a problem but lets not forget the defense didnt exactly shine without Ramsey vs a not so good offense

Herndon I still think ends up a solid player. The DL did the secondary ZERO favors against an average at best Broncos OL. Not sure what was up with them.

Yann definitely doesn't look like the hamstring is 100 percent.

It seems that we need to make sure that we get a few players that could have an impact on defense when we trade away Ramsey. I hate to say it, but the guy has made it well known that he doesn't want to be in a Jaguars uniform anymore and we need to do what's best for both parties.

Fournette is such a beast when he's just running like a wild stallion.  Rumbling downhill decisively until people just give up and don't want to tackle him anymore.  That's the Fournette that he was in 2017, and looked like it again.  Where he looks like he could be an elite power running back.

It's when he starts to fancy himself a dancer, he just becomes totally useless.

I don't know how you keep him on the right track like that, but if you can...he can still be a very good RB.  Maybe get some of those blinders like they use for racehorses?

That's all true though. Fournette for a guy his size has been awful at breaking tackles since coming into the league.

His highlights in college were him getting into secondary, lowering his shoulder, and then continuing running for a huge gain.

The times he's gotten that opportunity in the pros, he lowers his shoulder and plows for an extra yard or so before falling down. The difference in size/athleticism in the NFL vs College is probably highlighted the best in that regard.

He has bad lateral agility and his balance is lacking...take away his legs and he goes down.

Watch tackle attempts on Kamara, Hunt, other backs. Defenders get them on their thighs and legs but they rebalance and stay up.

Fournette will always be dependent on the OL. Versus Denver, they finally got some push. If they can do that, he will be fine similar to 2017. But I don't think he will ever be worth the 4th pick or be an elite back who can make guys miss if the hole isn't there.

Definitely much improved.

If he can start playing like we paid him to do and LF stays healthy they can be a beast duo like Taylor and Manuwai

Baldy breakdowns are the best and it isn't close.

Nobody ever really expected Fournette to be that juke and jive "makes yards out of nothing" back though.  He's a plow into the pile and gain a yard, or blow through the hole and gain a bunch...sort of back.  And if he gets to that second level, he's a menace.

He's a line 'em up and wear 'em down back.  Something guys like Kamara and awful **** human Hunt have never, and will never be.  You don't send Kamara on an endless series of HB dive plays, because he's gonna suck at it.  You do use Fournette that way.  It's gonna hurt his numbers in the end, but a dude that big and fast constantly hammering down "obvious" A gap runs, is going to start to wear on defenses.  It's easy running sideline to sideline pursuing a lateral back...it's more punishing when you're right in the muck every down with a guy running up the gut looking to knock somebodies block off.  And it's a big help to the OLine itself, when they can just tee off and move forward.

Sure Kamara and those guys can't pound a defense out. But it's not like they can't run between the tackles and be productive. Difference is you can run various offenses with them because they aren't limited. You dont have to block everything perfectly for them to make a play either.

I love the lovefest for Leonard when the OL can block. Where was that when he's in the negatives last week?  It's not like we have a dominant OL that's just going to blow holes open for him week in and week out.

We spent a 4th overall pick, and a bazillion of $ on Norwell, Linder, Cann plus invested 2nd rounders on Taylor/Cam to try and build around Fournette's strength.

Maybe Minshew or Foles will allow him to play against non stack fronts.

It's easy stopping a back sideline to sideline? Yeah, go tell defenses that gets shredded by Kamara and CMC that.

Which, ironically, we will see them back to back.
