I mean could any of us even come up with one good reason why a guy like Curt Schilling wouldn't make a great MLB manager? The only skills required are leadership, communication, and working with others.

No major league teams in Rhode Island either so he'd be able to attend all road games.

What RHP platoon bats at first are available via free agency or trade?

What would it cost to trade for Schwarber? Are the Cubs looking to rebuild for a bit or are they going to go for it again next season?

Not trying to be funny but I don't know what you are asking? Do you want a Lefty hitter for against RHP or did you mistype and are looking for a Right handed hitter?

Someone who can hit RHP

Justin Smoak. Down year this year, though still slightly above average, but good in 2017 and 2018. May have been unlucky this year and isn't a complete loss if need to hit a LHP

Mitch Moreland

Those are probably the best two FA that would be good platoons while being likely to entertain offers to be a platoon.

They absolutely will be going for it again next year, as they should.  Still a lot of talent on the squad, but some composition changes are necessary.  On talent alone, they should have easily won their division, but for whatever reason they produced much less than the sum of their parts.

Schwarber is a really tough one to trade, as other teams are much more likely to look at his entire season when valuing him.  The Cubs had him change his setup and slightly altered his stance midway through the season, and he went nuts.  .280/.366/.631 in 257 second half PAs (10.5% BB, 21.8% K, .287 BABIP).  That's good for a 151 wRC+.  But obviously everyone should be available for trade from the Cubs, as they look to reconfigure the squad.

The oldest teams in MLB, by average age:

1. Nationals (31.1) - Made WS
2. Yankees (30.0) - ALCS
3. Braves (29.7) - Won NL East
4. Astros (29.4) - ALCS
5. Dodgers (29.0) - 106 wins
6. Cards (28.8) - Won NL Central

Makes sense, given how long it takes to get to free agency.

Wow how are the Yankees 2nd oldest team?  I feel like our entire roster is kids.

Seems like a stunt to place his victimization back into public discourse.
