Detroit Lions list 6 new starters on first depth chart of regular season

Rookie linebacker Jarrad Davis is one of six new Lions starters to open the 2017 season.

Jarrad Davis, a first-round pick out of Florida, leads the way at middle linebacker. Free-agent pickup Paul Worrilow will flank on him on the strong side, while Cornelius Washington takes over for the injured Kerry Hyder at defensive end.

On offense, prized free agents Rick Wagner (right tackle) and T.J. Lang (right guard) lead the way for a reworked offensive line. Another newcomer, Greg Robinson, won the left tackle job in the wake of the Taylor Decker injury.

As for special teams, Golden Tate is listed as the winner of the punt return job even though he never fielded a punt in the preseason and did it sparingly in practice once the pads came on.

Dwayne Washington is listed as the starting kick returner, even though he ranked outside the top 100 at it during the preseason.

TJ Jones is the backup at both kick and punt returner, and it wouldn't be surprising at all to see him get a few reps this season, perhaps even Sunday against Arizona.

What do you think of the week 1 depth chart? Are there any changes you would make if you were in charge?

Do any of the decisions surprise you? Are there any that bother you?

Are there any players currently backing up a position that you expect to win a starting job by the end of the season?

What positions do you feel need to be addressed the most in the upcoming offseason whether it be through free agency or the draft?

How do you feel the Lions roster stacks up against the other teams in the NFCN? How about the NFC/NFL?

Are there any current free agents who you would like to see the Lions go out and sign to improve the current roster depth?

If your ideal depth chart looks different, post it below!

We just cut LB Bellore. The special teamer. So why cut a starter?

I read that they cut Bellore with the intention of signing him after this game because his contract became guaranteed if he was on the opening day roster.

Didn't care enough to fact check.
