Hopefully, this is the plan to finish out 2019 season & beyond.

Silly. Everyone has a price.

A 1st rounder would be a good price for Trent even if he wasn't holding out. Which of course suggests that no one is actually offering a 1st, or anything that close, but I keep hearing relatively plugged-in people making reference to that as a reasonable price tag for him.

But Bruce is not a reasonable person.

#1)Have to trade Trent Williams before the 2019 trade deadline which is Oct. 29th. This distraction has gone on long enough.

2)Have to start Haskins for the remainder of the year. We need to know if he is the QB for the future of this team, before the 2020 NFL draft. If he's not ready, than you simply the Offense. Run the ball more, if you must. Make him wear those playbook arm bands that James's Winston wears. Winning or Losing doesn't even matter at this point,  Because we will have a new coach in 2020, anyways.

3) We need to consider other trades we can make besides Trent Williams, so we can have some ammo for the 2020 & 2021 draft. I don't want to speculate who so much, but this could put our new Coach in a better position to evaluate our talent. Maybe some older guys, who won't  be around for a rebuild might be choices to consider?

There's probably a bunch more to list, but these are the 3, I would like to see happen & soon.

What are your thoughts on this?

Bruce Allen was already quoted as saying he told Trent that he might trade him in the off-season, but no trade was happening now.  So thats out.

I would personally start Haskins after the bye.  There is a lot of turmoil going on right now, the last thing we need is for him to start with everything churning around the way it is.  Set the game after the bye as the goal.

The problem with making trades in the NFL is that guaranteed money is paid by the team trading the player, and therefore, the dead cap space that happens.  While the Redskins have a good amount of cap space right now- surprising with the Alex Smith contract taking up so much space- they take a hit each time they trade a veteran.  Is a third or fourth for Kerrigan really worth the hit on guaranteed money at this point?  Even the Dolphins have players who want out, and their agents went to the team with that information, and only one notable has been moved so far.

I just did the math on trading Kerrigan, Norman, PRich, Reed and Trent after June 1st and the Redskins would save $34.92 million.

Kerrigan = $10.75 million

Norman = $11.3 million

Reed = $7.87 million

Richardson = $5 million

Trent = $0

Just throwing Haskins out there because “we have to see” is the wrong approach. It just is. You draft a QB and your goal as a franchise should be to build him into a star over the course of 3-4 years — not to throw him out there as soon as possible, regardless of whether he’s ready, with the goal of determining whether you should immediately dump him and replace him if he’s not immediately productive.

This. The kid played 1 season in college. How’s “throwing him in just to see” working out for Mitch Trubisky, who also started only one season in college? There’s absolutely no reason to stunt his growth by throwing him to the wolves so early in his career. This isn’t about personnel around him, it’s about the kid picking up the nuances of the position enough to compete.
The problem is there’s no one in the building I trust with his development. Even O’Connell, who could be booking interviews for as soon as the seasons over as we type.

They don't care about Haskins long term future. It's all about being tired of seeing Keenum and Colt. Witch makes absolutely no sense to me when It's CLEAR this is a LOST SEASON at this point. Putting Haskins out there does nothing at all but put him at risk both mentally and physically.

Handing the ball off 30 plus times a game to Peterson & CT and throwing mostly screens and most of your intermediate to downfield throws off of play-action like Big Ben did from 2004-2006 will not stunt Haskins growth.

It's not hard. Don't make it complicated. This will allow Haskins to learn the offense slowly, learn to call the plays and work in and out of the huddle while being in the game.

It will also take time off the clock and should keep our D more fresh than it has been the first 5 games.

Those Steeler teams actually had a run game which allowed Ben to lean on while he grew. They also had Cowher and the rest of the coaching staff in place. Brady came up leaning on his run game, defense and best head coach ever. Both those Patriot and Steeler teams were good enough to win Super Bowls while bringing along their young quarterbacks.
 We, on the other hand, have none of these things. At best give Callahan and O’Connell 4-6 games to sort out some semblance of a running game. If Haskins makes a couple starts at the end fine. I just don’t see playing him for evaluation purposes when another coaching staff will be here in January anyway. He’s clearly Snyder’s pick and they aren’t ditching him for Tua or Herbert or Fromm.

So, just bc we don’t have Alan Faneca and Marvel Smith on the left side doesn't mean we can't sign a FB, a true blocking TE to start opposite Sprinkle and start running that kind of offense.

Who cares if it's 3 yards and a cloud of dust! We’re not trying to necessarily win pretty, we’re trying to replicate what we had going with Alex last year before he and the OL got hurt.
