If Tomlin were traded to Skins

How many believe this is realistic? I'm personally mixed on the idea of trading Tomlin. I know he has his flaws but the risk of getting someone a whole lot worse is very realistic. My concern is with Ben retiring in a few years, I believe there is a real possibility Tomlin either steps away from the game or we do not resign him and we start the rebuilding process. If we have an opportunity now to get some high draft picks out of this it would be really hard to pass up. If we could receive something similar to what the Raiders received 2 1st's a 2nd and a 3rd I would take it. We could get Jerry Juedy or the OLB from Ohio state this year and in 2021 with two 1st rounders we could have the ammunition to trade up for the Clemson QB for a legite blue chipper to set the franchise up for the next decade. The big question would be are there legit candidates out there that are better than Tomlon for today's game that can position us to be more competitive against the Patriots and Belicheck? I feel inevitably change is coming so if we can benefit from it with a blockbuster trade we might as well take advantage of it now.

I am possibly the biggest tomlin supporter left in these parts but am not opposed to a change if it means replacing coordinators at the same time. It would not take that kind of haul to move Tomlin after this season imo. I would take a 1st and a 2nd in 2021.

My 1st interview lined up would be Eric Bienemy. I like how he has done with young offensive talent over the last couple years and think the post ben era will need a giy like him for the youth we have on offense.  On defense I dont have a name off the top of my head but would prefer maybe a lil more veteran cordinator to help with a rookie head coach like Bienemy. Just my thoughts

It's never going to happen, but if it was two 1sts and more, I'd totally do it.
I'm not a Tomlin hater, but I do think we've seen the same mistakes with
this team for a bit too long now. If they genuinely offered that much, you'd
have to see it as the moment for a total reshape for the future.

I just feel like maybe it's time for a new era.

but remember, colbert has to go too. Tomlin has his issues but colbert threw him many pieces that were out of place, and said " make this work".

I would be interested in seeing how tomlin does with a team where he  has total control GM and all that.  Lets see if his teams play down to the competition, if he wastes RD1 picks, etc just as has happened here over the years. Maybe there were other people to blame for this in steelers organization.  I think ben had a lot to do with the underachieving and playing down to the competition, many games he never got going until it was almost too late.

Washington is such a disaster, it might take 3+ years to become decent if they don't have a QB. I think their D is talented in some areas (DL) so that will help.. Too bad they are deciding to tear down RFK, they could have moved back  there for the new era?

trading is just as bad as firing and worse than 'not renewing their contract'.

rooneys dont care about winning. underachieving and then making excuses is good enough now.

tomlin aint going anywhere unless he wants to, and why would he.?

he has it made here.

he might not want  out but if he doesn't like colbert , then he might want out.  We won't know,  as fans we might learn years later but not now.

he entire FO and Coaching staff need to go. The whole scouting dept, all of them.

some of the scouts might be ok, but if colbert has veto power and picks who HE wants, it could be a waste of time for many of the picks. Imagine being the CB scout and not even having burns on your board, then colbert picks him RD1  O.o

The scouts and positional coaches should have the saying of draft picks and signings, and the GM could be the capologist bean counter or along those lines.

It wont happen but if it did....it's about time.

So tired of the Tomlin era...two play-off wins in the last 10 years with some really good talent.

Time to move on

Blame colbert, tomlin ben , arians, fichner etc, it's all got to change. Maybe tomlin could stay if he had complete control, but colbert and the some  of the scouts has to go .  I am actually hoping ben returns with this exact regime, his OC of choice and lets see how this turns out. We saw in the pats game and the seahawks game the offence was terrible. So imagine an entire season of that with the HOF qb, no excuses there.

Tomlin has been successful here but he has always had the luxury of a HOF QB. My concern with Tomlin is he has struggled to field a competent defense after the Cowher era players left and he has been abysmal in developing or drafting secondary help. He wasted quality years with the 3b's when he should have been more aggressive in going out and getting defensive help to complement those guys on offense. He has mismanaged the cap by either holding on to players when he shouldn't have, overpaying depth players like they were starters and mismanaging Bell and Brown when we could have done better trading them for quality draft picks in return. I will give him a pass with AB I guess but he could have done better with Bell. I lump Colbert in here as well. More importantly I believe Tomlin has been poor in his selection and management of coordinators. Carnell Lake, Joey Porter along with Butler just to name a few. I just feel like we have been really poor at developing talent outside of the offensive line,  defensive line and wide receivers.  Mike Munchak is the perfect example of a quality coach getting the most out of your talent. I feel like Tomlin kind of let us down on the defensive side of the ball since that is where he appears tone most involved and we didn't see the development fast enough on that side of the ball when we had a strong offense to legitimately position us for Superbowl runs as of late. The window has passed us by now and the timing to me is ripe for Tomlin and Colbert as well as others to move on and get more innovative young minds in here to truly maximize the talent we have on the team. If we can position this team draft wise to go after the QB from Clemson in a couple years now is the opportunity to do so. The other thing I want in a new HC is one who can make proper half time adjustments and better play the chess game to keep up with teams like the Patriots and maybe better clock management would be nice too.
