For ****s and giggles, the players most interesting that could be there at 4...

I think QB Tua is gone #1. To me he's really special.
I think QB J.Herbert is waaaay over-rated. He's nowhere as good as Mariota was, and looky there.
WR J.Jeudy will be special. Could be interesting.
OLB C.Young is a freak. Stud.
OT A.Thomas is a stud.
OT T.Wirfs is very, very good.
CB J.Okudah is the closest thing to Ramsey.

If hell froze over and we really did get the Redskins pick. I'd take either Young, Okudah, Jeudy or Thomas.

I watched the Oregon-Washington game today.  Herbert's accuracy was horrible if he couldn't stand like a statue in the pocket.  I like Jacob Eason myself.  His little spin move to retreat when pressured is my main concern with him, but his arm is elite of elite, and his accuracy is good too.  Washington got screwed on a missed call on 4th down at the end of the game.

I haven't watched Ohio State much this year, but Chase Young looked like a buddy star.  Isaiah Simmons from Clemson is another one I liked.  Troy Dye is another one that I like.

I.Simmons could be the 2nd or 3rd defensive player drafted.

with the teams cap nightmare, and the draft pick inventory being low I think they HAVE to move tomlin if they're serious about next year.

the only alternative is trading away #1s  several more years out.

 Actually completely disagree with this.

We always play with a close cap but we are going to have enough Room to get what we need in my opinion we are in no way in a position to have to do anything as far as Tomlin is concerned.

I'm not even sure I'm still on the 'fire the coordinators' train. Butler got a true Safety and is already playing the defense more aggressively. Fichtner...idk what to think tbh.

We dont 'need' a 1st round pick and we could still end up with a 1st round pick value of 17+ that was traded to Miami. Minkah for a mid to late first is a pretty good deal imo.

What we do need to do imo is cut Moncreif for that 3rd.

I'm genuinely curious how you see the Steelers getting 2 decent OLBs , starting RT, and a starting WR  out of their current cap situation and draft picks.

They have a 2nd round pick, which I'd use for a OLB, OT, or TE personally.

They'll have a 3rd round pick to either double up on OLB or address one of the other positions.

This is an EXTREMELY deep class for WRs. They do well drafting them, even in late rounds.

Theres gonna be some space to possible address a position in FA. It's not gonna be a star player and it doesnt need to be

star =/= starter

so a team that basically has at least 4 starter-caliber player holes (for certain, best case scenario) you plan to fill 3 of them with non -1st-round draft picks.

we'll see how that works out.  I'm not saying it can't or hasn't been done, but that's a huge gamble, particularly for a team with a proven recent history of sucking at drafting at least 1 of those positions.

feilers is a free agent after the season.  the other 2 suck

Feiler is a RFA and can be kept on 1 year deal at IIRC $2.5-$3mill...Banner is getting reps and Chucks is still developing.

To say they suck is extremely short sighted.

Theyll resign Dupree and the WR development ROS will determine what is needed.

Thet can easily create $20 mill~ in cap room with just getting rid of Moncrief/Barron/Chick.

Thry sign a FA like they just did this offseason.

A few restructures pushing $$$ into when they are rebuilding would also apply.

Theyll have holes...they’ll fill them one way or another.

overthecap shows those cuts only freeing them up to a total of about 15M,  which resigning Dupree will likely eat a big chunk of.

So you've freed cap room to resign 1 player and you've created 2 more roster holes (granted, crap players) to do so.

I don't think star = starter or vise versa.

I don't think that's fair at all in fact. I think you can go get a quality starter that isnt considered a star player. When I say star player I'm talking about elite level, big money contract players

If there are 22 non-specialist starters on a team and every draft pick was a success and had starter talent you'd be turning over the entire roster every 3 seasons.

The idea of counting on finding 3-4 starters in a single draft is beyond unlikely, ESPECIALLY without a 1st round pick.
