Give me one good reason why the Panthers shouldn't at least try to trade Cam Newton

Yeah, the guy who is 5-0 when his defense has something like 25+ sacks in those games and has a RB who is so good that people are saying he's the MVP is the answer at QB despite having nearly as many fumbles as touchdowns...

Why don't we wait and see Cam play healthy first before crowning Kyle Allen as a savior? Jesus. The Panthers are a year removed from making the playoffs and were 6-2 before he hurt his shoulder and was incapable of throwing more than 10 yards. Every Panther fan wanted him benched so he could heal but the staff wouldn't do it for some reason. And obviously if you're someone like Cam who loves the game, you aren't going to take yourself out unless you literally cannot get on the field. Dude even didn't disclose a foot injury in week 2 that prevented him from planting and making throws. Obviously that was a primetime game so EVERYONE saw it and assumed that's just who he is now. And that leads to this stupid narrative that he's washed. He even outplayed Goff in week one when he was healthy (which may not be a big deal considering Goff is crashing into earth's core but whatever).

Anyway, the whole situation is stupid. Kyle Allen is a better Derek Anderson or Matt Moore at this point. He hasn't been very good the past three games and is just playing mistake free ball. He's not winning us anything with his arm. People just look at the wins and assume it's all the QB though, I guess.

I 100% agree with you on Cam. However it wouldn't be fair to say Allen isn't winning the games. He's playing a significant role. He has a knack for sustaining drives and letting his weapons make plays. You have to give him credit for that. It just might be possible that the Panthers have two good QB's when healthy.

Oh give me a break. The Cardinals got a 2nd rounder for Rosen who’s horrible. Newton, when healthy, is one of the leagues best players at the most premium of positions. If the Panthers put him on the block several teams would be beating down their doors to get him.

We’ve seen Cam healthy for most of eight seasons. His average passer rating has been below the league average over his career and towards the very bottom among long term starters.

Not rosens fault he’s stuck on some of the worst teams we’ve ever seen

The last time Cam was healthy, he was pretty solid. I'd hold off on the hot takes until what we see Cam is like when he's healthy again. If he's healthy and still terrible then it's probably time to send Cam to the glue factory. It seems like it's CMC that's mostly carrying the Panthers right now anyway, right?

Not saying Cam could or couldn't fetch a lot in a trade, but those situations are entirely different. Rosen was viewed as a young prospect who was a year removed from being a high first round pick and who had potential. He certainly doesn't look good, but he's been put into awful situations with both Arizona and Miami. Cam, on the other hand, is getting older, has some injury concerns, and isn't on a cheap rookie contract like Rosen is.

He sucks because he has nothing to work with.  He wouldn’t suck in a lot of other situations

The proof is what we’ve seen. And he’s been absolutely terrible. He drops back, turtles up and either takes a sack or throws a pick. I have no idea what situation you think you could put this guy in where he’s not going to suck? The guys been riding high school hype for years now.

Trading away a NFL MVP just 3 years ago who is still just 30 years old for a guy who went undrafted on a 5 game sample size is a booooold move Cotton.

Unless your 100% positive Cam is washed because of injuries and will NEVER return to form while also being equally certain that Kyle Allen is the second coming of Kurt Warner--- you don't trade Cam Newton.

Fascinating insight. I wonder if coaches give a **** about what a QB's passer rating is? Do you think they scan box score stats and base their gameplan on that? Or do you think they focus on tape? Because Cam allows the Panthers to have one of the most complex run games in the history of the NFL, in addition to being able to throw a football well enough for him to be the QB of a team that scored 500 points.
