Sir Fobos
Rhodes looks like he's lost his edge, but he's still good. This team really has a wealth of good DBs.

Is he still good? Seemed to have a rough outing against Detroit. Legit question, is he still grading out as a top 30 CB? How does he compare to Waynes now?
JDBrocks
He's not very good. So far this season he has given up a 108.4 Passer Rating when targeted. Last year he allowed 85.3 passer rating. Rhodes has been pretty bad this year.

Hopefully we get to see more of Hughes down the stretch as he very well could be starting next year. I’d actually count on it because I think it’s unlilely Waynes and Rhodes both return. But I am still not convinced that Waynes is deserving of top 5 CB money given that is what he’s likely to get on the open market.

Legit question, is he still grading out as a top 30 CB? How does he compare to Waynes now? I don't know how he compares, aside from looking a bit slower and being more "grabby" (like early in his career) than Waynes. He may have a nagging physical issue, is just beginning to generally decline, or is just having a bad spell. I'd still start him ahead of most CBs in the league. He has a well-established track record of elite play, so I wouldn't count him out after a mixed start to the season, especially since the pass rush has been inconsistent at the same time. If Rhodes doesn't get things sorted out this season, we've got the talented, young Hughes who is looking just about ready for the spotlight. I have a gut feeling that Hughes won't be starting unless there's an injury, though. I thought Waynes had kind of a bad game against the Lions, too, until the late INT somewhat redeemed him. Even Hitman didn't look great. The Lions had a solid gameplan to mitigate the pass rush and Stafford is not afraid to thread the needle and take chances. That paves the way for some of those passes that are just undefendable even with good coverage. Given enough time, ANY receiver will find a way to get open. Playing on the road didn't help matters much, either.

It was anyone's game until deep into the last quarter. We handled the pressure well, with some gutsy play-calling by Stefanski. Very satisfying win. Seemed to have a rough outing against Detroit I’m not sure I can characterize his game as bad. He got beat a couple of times, but I don’t recall any really bad plays. Yes, Jones scored two touchdowns with Rhodes defending, but I don’t know how any one could have defended those two passes. Rhodes was in good position and had Jones covered, but two perfect passes from Stafford led to two scores.
vike daddy
Cousins took advantage of Detroit selling out to stuff the run by targeting Diggs against 1-on-1 coverage late in the fourth quarter. The gain in the box score was 66 yards, but Diggs ran a total of 102.3 yards on the play, which ranked second in the NFL behind former teammate Cordarrelle Patterson’s kickoff return for a touchdown (130.5). https://www.vikings.com/news/stats-that-stood-out-vikings-at-lions-week-7?sf221914554=

He should have thrown the ball away, he forced it to Diggs. i agree that it is better to be aggressive than gun shy. I think that’s the difference between a great QB and a mediocre one. You just have to be smart about and situationally aware. Yes. Jaiere Alexander is an elite corner but Cousins didn't know that yet and he tried repeatedly to test Alexander and that didn't work out well. (To be fair, Theilen struggled against Alexander, as well)
Nozizaki
Also, this was the first time this year that the lead changed hands in a Vikings game!
vike daddy
The Vikings rolled up 503 yards at Detroit, the second most in Mike Zimmer’s six years as coach. The only game with more was 558 against Atlanta on Sept. 28, 2014, Zimmer’s fourth game. https://www.twincities.com/2019/10/21/marcus-sherels-future-uncertain-as-the-vikings-punt-returner/
