Dr.Doom52
First down run % can be slightly skew or over blown...it doesn't take into account the game situations. For instance if we get a first down on first down (run or pass) it doesn't represent our success rate of first down plays. Also we all know that if we are up 2 scores at any point in the game...we are running it on first and second down. That has happened in all 3 of our wins. It has nothing to do with success rate and I didn't say that it did. It has to do with predictability on first down. Our offense as a whole has been unsuccessful and is one of the worst in the league at going 3 and out, so getting first downs on first down with a running play isn't likely happening very often. Also, we're not up 2 scores very often, so that isn't likely to have a big swing in the overall percentages. In 2 of our 3 wins the game was a close game the majority of it, the exception being Atlanta. Defaulting to run-run-pass anytime the team has a lead isn't exactly a good thing either. To top it off, expected throws on first down because we were behind in our 4 losses should more than offset any expected running on first down due to leading in our 3 wins. We have largely been incredibly predictable on first down and that is why we've been in so many 2nd and long situations. Play-calling has been an issue, whether it's because of Smith's tendencies or Mariota's inability to lead a passing offense is yet to be determined. TwoToneBlue
I think we stick with him for the year and fire him in the offseason when there is more talent available to find a replacement.

F it just promote Downings. He can’t be worse than whatever the hell Arthur is trying to do

Any new person would still have to primarily pick plays from what we have already seen. There just isn't time between games to implement a new system. dtait93
It’s halftime and we have 46 passing yards against the 32nd ranked passing defense.
titans0021
Against the worst pass defense in the NFL. This offense just has zero chance for sustainable success.

It’s almost unbelievable that they came out with a plan that was somehow noticeably worse than the rest of the year. I even like Firkser, but he’s essentially just a big, slow WR. And honestly probably a worse blocker than CD. The Pruitt usage is the most incredible though.
deeluxx3
Yesterday was a perfect example of what is wrong with this team The other team has a weakness, and we don't look to exploit it. The opposite of proper gameplanning.
Titans fan 617
Art Smith just isn’t having a good year. He had a good play call with the Jonnu Smith TD but the willingness to continue to run Henry against the best run defense was mind boggling You have 4 legitimate receivers on this team and Art was so scared to let Tannehill sling it yesterday 2 legitimate receiving TEs and 1 had a monster game in Jonnu Smith and he was hesitant to keep attacking the TB LBs with Smith having great success The last criticism of this guy all together is the use of Dion Lewis. I’m not saying run draws with this guy but if the Pats were playing the number 1 run defense and they had Dion Lewis they would have spread the Bucs out and hit Lewis with all kinds of quick passes with all kinds of little short routes and the Titans only want to throw screens with this guy and I don’t get how “professional” coaches on this team can’t look around the league and see how James White, McCaffrey, Eckler, Sproles are used in different ways in the passing game and can’t do similar things with Dion Lewis I keep saying if the Titans are drafting a QB next year a whole new QB coach and OC need to be added
TitanSS
From the looks of it on Twitter it looks like anytime CD84 is motioned next to the TE the Bucs knew it was a run and were crashing at the snap. literally saw a 10 man box in one of the clips. Arthur Smith at his best.

Imagine running an offense where your QB constantly has to make insanely difficult throws while your RB has to get every yard after contact and thinking that it’s an acceptable game plan.
