Da shot heard around Pittsburgh!

Offense:

The offense has been better the past few weeks, but is still not hitting on as many cylinders as it can.  I am not expecting the offense to run like a Ferrari without Big Ben and many of the weapons lost. However, that doesn't mean the offense has to run like an old put put mobile either.

1. Use TE's McDonald and Varrett in the short and intermediate passing game.

The TE position can help to jump-start this offense and keep the chains moving.  I like what I have seen of Varrett early and I think he has the tools to fill the Jessie James void.  Get him the ball more.  Vance has proven that he can be a top tier TE and weapon when healthy.  Those are two big tough targets.  get them

the ball more.

2. Go vertical in the passing game more.  The horizontal passing game is high percentage, but also relies on the RB's being able to make defenders miss or break tackles. After a while the defense zones you up and then swarms the RB or WR before they can get motoring.  How many times have we seen Ryan Switzer catch a two yard pass? >:(  The few times that the Steelers offense has taken shots downfield they have been more successful than not. Ju Ju, Dionte, and Washington can run with the ball in their hands and in space.  Give them a shot.

3. OL has to continue to be chippy.  The Steelers have to be a more balanced team.  They are not going to be able to throw 50 times a game and win with Mason.  Although the Steelers rushing attack does not favor the years of Bam, Pegram, Bettis, Duece or Fast Willie, they can still have better success on the ground.  The success rushing the ball will also open up the play action pass and get opposing defenses off balance.

4. Start off fast for a change. Every game this year the Steelers offense has started its first possession with one, two, three kick! They have yet to take the ball and drive it down an opponents throat. You have a winless opponent who is dying to get their first win and pin a L on the Steelers to help their own draft fortunes in April.:o  Jump on the Dolphins and show them it is going to be a long night in Pittsburgh.

5. The Steelers cannot afford to play down because they aren't that good anyway.  If they lose this game, it will probably have some very long term ramifications in season and off season. The Steelers can't afford to lose a game that is at home, coming off a bye week, on Monday Night and they should win. No cliche's, no excuses, just play hard nosed Steelers football on both sides of the ball.

Defense:

1. Keep doing what you are doing.  The Steelers defense seems to be playing better and better each week. They are setting the table for the offense by creating turnovers, getting off the field on third downs better, and playing solid overall defense against both the run and pass.  They will be challenged with the loss of Tuitt along the DL and in the pass rush. Tuitt helped to allow the Steelers to generate consistent QB pressure without blitzing.

2. No Fitzmagic. You can't allow this guy to get hot.  He will fling the ball and the defense should get plenty of opportunity to create some INT's.  However, Fiitzmagic has shown that if you let him hang around, he can frustrate and kill you passing.  Keep the pressure on him and play smart.

3. Run defense. If I am the Dolphins I would try to run the ball on the Steelers.  If successful, it will open some passing lanes and situations.  It will slow the game down and it can keep it close if the Steelers offense sputters and the defense has an off night.  Don't take chances and kill the gnat with a sledgehammer!

4. Let Minkah shine.  He has made a huge difference on the defense.  While he has not always had glowing stats that jump off the page, he seems to have settled the communication issues on the back end, added speed, intelligence and character.  He should be hyped to play against his former team. There is nothing more rewarding than seeing your ex when you are out with a stallion that looks better than she does.  Minkah should have a happy Miami homecoming in Pittsburgh.

5. The defense is playing with a little fire and getting the old Steelers Defensive Mojo back.  Play hard, play fast, gang tackle, force fumbles, catch tipped balls and intercept passes, smack ball carriers and receivers.  That is the Steelers way!

If we lose this game the entire staff should be fired before the midfield hand shakes.

The Dolphins are averaging just over 8 pts a game this season they are DEAD LAST in every statistical category. -9 on turnover differential. Have given up something like 24 sacks on the season.

The Miami Dolphins should lose this game by no less than 30 points.

this should be like the Chargers game without the comeback by the HOF QB. Then as we all know, there is no telling what the OC will call for a game in the black and yellow gold

I would like them to make a statement vs the dolphins, a team that traded away all it's talent should get destroyed mis to nth e season.

How many snaps does Chick normally get? That's my answer.

Also, good chance Rashad Jones doesnt play. Right now it's up in the air for Xavien Howard

so, of the remaining players the fins have, how many are actually legit starters? They traded  and released most of their talent, probably the most a team has removed in a single season that I can remember anyways.

A couple notables. There is a chance CB Xavien Howard does play.

There is a good chance their starting C Daniel Kilgore and S Rashad Jones do not play.

So, there is Devante Parker, Preston Williams, and Kenyan drake on offense that are weapons but shouldn't pose anything unbearable for our secondary.

Mike Gesicki has been able to get open but neither QB has gotten the ball to him.

Their OL is mediocre at best.

John Jenkins is decent. Christian Wilkins deserves attention at DE. Tbh...the rest of their team is just JAGs
