Philly spent all that money for an above average player instead of pitchers.

Offense was our problem last year not pitching. Our pitching took a step backward.

And that still doesn't make Harper overrated let alone the most overrated player in the league.

He is consistently voted by his peers as the most overrated player in the league. His former team got better without him.

Players are notoriously terrible at evaluating each other and also are grading based on media coverage, not necessarily how they are rated.

The last part is meaningless not to mention wrong. This Washington team is not the same as last years or previous teams. They have new players. It isn't like they just removed Harper. Even then given the individuality of baseball it isn't like a team really plays better by removing a player that is "clogging" things up. They improve or not on their own merit. Rendon, Turner, Soto all improved offensively and Soto had a full season. Kendrick had a resurgent year in his first year with them and way overplayed his contract. Harper last year was better than Robles and Eaton this year and this year he was about even with Soto as well. Their OF didn't improve. Strasburg significantly improved. Corbin is a major upgrade over Gonzalez. Sanchez is also an upgrade over Gonzalez and he is their #4.

Despite what it looks their offense only moderately improved (3 more points in wRC+ and 2.2 WAR). Again the result of young players improving and old players playing better than expected able to offset the loss of Harper. And make no mistake it was a loss. He'd have been their 3rd best player this year and more or less equal to their 2nd (talking offensively) Their pitching is where the major improvement was.
