Wow.  Well that makes Lock IR-return a no brainer.  There are whispers of CJ Beathard trade offer that could be us given SF & DEN’s systems being so mirrored (except for talent lol).   Hopefully it’s nothing crazy I’d rather suffer with Brandon Allen / Lock than give up a real asset for another stopgap.

Isn't there talk of taking Rypien off the PS as back-up?

Seriously - if they don't get Lock activated then Elway is stacking picks to make a run at a QB in the draft.

I think Rypien likely the backup for Week 9 vs. CLE.  Expecting Lock to even back up fresh off IR-return would be insane.  And putting Rypien as our backup for @MIN / @BUF week 11-12 would be justifiable.  4 weeks is a really short time to get a rookie ready.

But yeah it’s a no brainer to get Lock off IR and start practicing.  And IMO week 13 the latest for a 5-game run to get his feet wet.  Keeping guys on ice for an entire year is so 1980-1990’s.  And that’s  just talking about game experience.  It’s absolutely ridiculous to deprive him of any practice / scrimmage time.  So IR-return should be a Lock (yes I went there lol).

There can be no doubting that this Offense has been a shambles in the 2nd half of almost all of our games. Does anyone have any stats regarding our 1st and 2nd half performance Offensively thus far?

In the first half we average 3.9 YPC & 7.0 ANY/A.

In the first half we average 4.5 YPC & 5.0 ANY/A.

Yikes

Basically Flacco and the O has zero verticality to our game and we are behind injury replacements / backups in how aggressive the air game is.   Flacco wasn’t the entire problem but he wasn't even close to being part of the solution either.

Why not trade the 4th we got from San Francisco to the Jets for Robby Anderson? He is a deep threat

Well on the  bright side....

1.  We're not going to waste draft capital on stopgaps who won't help us long-term.

2.   We likely are going to get a better draft position for 2020.

3.   Lock's going to activated eventually, so at least a complete redshirt-year isn't in the books.

I'd hope we see at LEAST 5 games of actual playing, though.  But it could be worse given Elway's tendencies.  Oh well.

They're not going to activate him until after the bye? This organization is lost.

Apparently they want to use the spot for Rypien and not carry 4 QB's...there's an easy solution for that guys....IR Flacco, and use the 3rd QB spot from one of the guys we trade.

This franchise is unbelievable. They make a million stupid little mistakes and then cry that there's nothing they can do to fix them, so stop blaming us.

It's gonna be okay this is Christmas eve and tomorrow at 4 PM you won't have coal in your stocking.  You've been good this year @BroncoBruin lol

The unrest about Lock not starting his 2-week practice window grows and TBH it’s totally warranted:

Here’s the thing - you don’t need to make any moves off the 53-man roster to let Lock practice.  You do only get 2 weeks to decide once you let him start practicing.

So the only explanation that makes any sense is that the staff & Elway want to give all the work to Allen & Rypien given both are moving up.  And that Lock’s usage would be limited this week.   It’s dumb to think Rypien will upgrade Lock to any significant degree, though.   And once Lock is activated off IR-return - Rypien is getting cut and then moved back to the PS.   But I imagine Elway’s inability to give up the win-now mentality drives some of this.   It’s just if he’s going to be our Nov-Dec guy, starting the practice clock later doesn’t really get a lot of justification.   Guess we’ll find out soon enough what happens.
