Looked like, while the ball touched the ground, it didn't assist the catch; would've been a catch without the ground helping. Either way, why leave it up to the "wtf" reffing? Every team should have a dedicated head nerd, with maybe a team of 3-5 nerd henchmen, that have a direct line to the coach about this.
