Fire Bruce for sure but I'll give the benefit of the doubt to the Medical staff till this review board goes over the records .

It's an NFL hired review board. Is it really independent?

Still company doctors! Sorry, I still don't pass the smell test to me. If Dan is paying for the medical review board them it's not independent. I'll be shocked if the board doesn't rule in the skin's favor.

The NFL is not the Redskins. They are two separate entities. This is the process that the players agreed to.

Honestly, let's not forget Trent Williams isnt the smartest guy. Dude has multiple weed pops on his resume. It's still within the realm of possibility that the training staff told him he should probably get it looked at by a specialist and he assumed they were blowing him off.

And every doctor is going to start by saying, "Its probably just a cyst or an odd build up of fluid." Because if you start with the, "It could be cancer" your patient is going to panic.

I believe the NFLPA is invited to review it as well. They should be the player's advocate in this so, for the sake of argument, if the NFLPA says it looks good, then Trent loses big here.

True, I just don't trust the league or Dan Snyder/Allen. I think they're going to use this so Trent won't get an accrued year.

It's better to just trade him in February now than to keep being petty about ”losing” Trent or losing a standoff with Trent. It's so childish. Beyond ridiculous. They need to trade him as soon as they can.

His trade value goes way down if he only has 1 year left. If you are interested in getting the most compensation out of the trade, then you'll want the Redskins to prevail here.

The NFL is the teams. The teams control the $ and are the ones that keep someone like Goddell employed. So, essentially it’s the same thing.

No. The NFL is separate from the teams. Hence why the NFL is technically a non-profit.

The key quote is here.

Quote

Williams said on Thursday that his discontent isn’t about money. However, he did confirm that he had talked to team officials about his contract, which doesn't guarantee his 2020 salary. Williams said he didn’t know what premier player in the NFL plays without guaranteed money. (Very few NFL players have fully guaranteed deals, however.)

Three people with knowledge of talks with Williams told USA TODAY Sports that Williams had asked for an extension and asked for a trade after expressing his distrust over his medical care. Upon learning the Redskins would not trade him, he again asked for an extension before informing the team he no longer wanted to play for the organization. The people requested anonymity because they weren't authorized to speak publicly.

Yes, this was about money (and/or getting out of Washington). Always has been. The medical issue was (and still is) a smokescreen. Because the guy could've gotten a 2nd opinion at any time in the last 5+ years.

He didn't. And now also can't shut up about how he's playing on the years of his deal that contain no guaranteed money. For those of us who negotiate deals on a regular basis, this is what is known as "Negotiation Interests" or "NI". And all that means is the "NI" is what the other person is really seeking that causes them to adopt their negotiation position.

We all hate the medical staff and the trainers (or at least almost all of us do). I'm pretty much the #1 hater that I know. But they aren't at fault (from what I know right now - that could change based upon what is discovered during review) for not diagnosing a bump correctly and telling him to get a 2nd opinion and him not doing it.

Like I said before, are you going to blame a proctologist for not diagnosing cervical cancer? If not, then why blame sports medicine doctors for the same thing? They don't specialize in Oncology.

If you truly don't trust the medical staff, you're not coming back, even for 8 weeks.

IMHO - This guy wanted out and/or wanted more guaranteed money after getting all of the guaranteed money earlier in his deal. And to do it, decided to slander the medical staff because they were a convenient foil and everyone would instantly take his side because it was the visceral and easiest thing to do.

But if you're paying attention, nothing in his story adds up.

Which is a joke! The league will side with the team over the player, they always do bc they represent the team just like the NFLPA represents the players.

On top of that, who does he think he’s fooling??? His contract was front loaded, he signed the contract, no one held a gun to his head to sign it. He wanted the guaranteed money up front which, was smart bc he got paid the most early and it was guaranteed money early on. The Redskins are actually playing this right - contract wise - for anyone who knows anything about Nfl contracts, and Trent’s in particular knows when he says “he didn’t know any premier players in the league playing with no guaranteed money.” Most players get all their guaranteed money early on, and the last two years they don’t have much guaranteed money left.

Just look at Trent’s contract, what he’s saying isn’t true in regards to his own contract. He has $5 million in guarantees if he had showed up at the mandatory mini-camp and training camp this year. Even though, he didn’t he was still making $3.25 million in guarantees not to play this year. Next year he has $2 million in guarantees all he has to do is report and then fake an injury. xD

So it's becoming clear this is about William's wanting more money or just being traded from the Redskins oppose to the misdiagnosis. Turning down a 1st round pick for Williams still wasn't the smartest decision though. William's than would've had to play on his current contract or renegotiate his deal with his new team. Hard to believe Dan/Bruce wouldn't have added more money to William's deal if they are interested in extending Kerrigan and didn't want to trade him with offers being made at the trade deadline.
