Anchorage Wolves

Team:

We won last week. Oh yeah! Now we look to beat the brakes off of Berlin, bring down their wall, and punch em in the mouth.

Offensive Formations: (4 Wide 40%, 3 Wide 20%, 2TE 20%, 2RB 20%,)

Our base offense this week will be the BDL special 4 wide. We welcome N’Keal Harry as our 4th WR and Big Slot #2.  In our three wide we will have Sammy Watkins as the Z and Preston Williams as the X on the outside with Tyler Boyd in the slot. Noah Fant is our TE in the 3 wide and he is backed up by Dawson Knox. Our 2back sets will include Alec Ingold as the FB. If N’Keal does not play Zach Pascal will take his place as the 4th WR.

Offensive Plan of Attack:

We will be looking to spread out the Berlin defense while also providing us with a balanced attack and the ability to smash mouth in 2 TE and 2RB sets. We are looking at a 60/40 Pass to Run ratio once again. If they decide to treat any of our receivers like gunners they will get flagged constantly for DPI. They have some young decent DB’s but none are lock down players and Cousins will have plenty of options in the passing game. We will be looking once again at a 50/40/10 usage share with Ingram, Pollard, and Lewis at RB.

We will feature our zone running game once again and look to get some outside stretch zone plays, as well as some inside runs against a spread out front. We will utilize the run to set up the pass, and run play action so any safety up in the box will be delayed in his drop and we will get passing lanes behind him. We will run our combo routes against their zone and man coverages looking for the weak spots at various levels of their coverage for Cousins to abuse, especially with their completely predictable cover 2 and cover 3 coverages against longer down and distance sets. We will utilize our TE’s when they are in the game to stretch the seams and keep those safeties and LBers honest. We really want to feed our slot receivers in this game as we feel they can take advantage of the Berlin secondary.

As we always do  will utilize motions with our Receivers or Tight Ends to determine coverages. In our 3 wide and 4 wide Cousins will line up in shotgun. In the 2 TE and 2 RB sets Cousins will line up under center. Cousins will have the call to shift line protection and call hot routes for our RB coming out of the backfield or have him stay into block. If they get aggressive with blitzing we will run some screens.

Defensive Formations:

Our Base D will be a nickel this week against any 3 wide sets and a 4-3 under against any 2 wide and less sets. Mychal Kendricks will be our SLB in 4-3 sets. Vernon Hargreaves will come in against four wide sets as the dime. Against an empty set Sean-Murphy Bunting comes into the game replacing Landon Collins, and plays up over the fifth receiving option. In Nickel and Dime sets we will again have Landon Collins plays up in the box. Ronnie Harrison gets the start at free safety. When watching film this week before we decided to trade Budda Baker (who we were playing at free safety previously), I was surprised by how often Ronnie dropped into deeper coverage. Much more than Budda. We fully believe in his ability to man our FS position.

Defensive Plan of Attack:

We are facing a very tough offense. They just traded away their best receiver however. We will mix our coverages between Man/Single High, Cover 2, and Cover 3. Landon Collins will peel out to their Cover 2 assignment if we are playing the coverage against the three wide or four wide sets. Chidobe Awuzie will line up across from Golladay in all coverages. In man against a 3W, 2RB set, Schobert has the FB or Second RB, Landon Collins has the RB, and Jamie Collins has Middle zone or Blitz. Against the 3W, 1TE, 1RB set, Jamie Collins has RB, Landon Collins has TE, and Joe Schobert has Double TE with L. Collins or Blitz.

We face a very dynamic Aaron Jones this week. We are going to keep the same gap discipline as last week. We will have Vita Vea two gap both A gaps. Javon Hargrave will have B gap to TE side. Joe Schobert will opposite B gap. Sam Hubbard will have right side C gap, and Landon Collins will have outside contain or D gap to the TE/Strong Side. Trey Flowers will have Left Side C gap, CGJ will have Outside Contain or D gap on that side. Jamie Collins will have spill inside to outside chase. So he will fill any holes from inside out that aren’t getting clogged if my Dline is getting beat. If we are in the 4-3 Vea has two gap both A gaps, Hargrave has strong side B gap, Schobert has opposite B gap, Both ends have C gaps, Kendricks and J. Collins have outside contain or D gaps and L. Collins has free range to chase the ball carrier.

In our zone we will mix up blitzes between Jamie Collins and Joe Schobert. In man against a 3W-2RB set Collins will be the blitzer and against 3-1-1 Schobert will be the blitzer. They won’t blitz every play but these are the players that will be sent in these different sets when we do blitz. We will press in every coverage and cheat Harrison to Breeland’s side in man over the top.

Go Wolves!

@ Berlin Blitzkrieg

Offense
We finally have our full-strength starting OL this week.  We believe this OL is capable of winning against any defensive front in BDL and we will lean on them to do so.

Aaron Jones is going to be our main RB this week.  Like last week, we are going to lean on him as much as possible.  A lot of our run game is going to be off-tackle this week.  We want to make sure to involve Jones heavily in the passing game as well.  We will split him out to force a linebacker into man coverage and we will use him in check downs and screens to slow down the ANC pass rush.  We want Aaron to get 20+ carries and 10+ targets if possible.  Justin Jackson will spell Aaron Jones when Aaron needs a break as we think he can fill Aaron’s role successfully.  Look for him to get 5-7 carries and 3+ targets.  Dare will be used on 3rd downs to block and catch if needed.

2 TE - Our main set for this game(70%), we want ANC to have 3 LBs on the field.  We will use this set to establish a solid run game and get the ball out of Brady’s hands quickly.  We will be under center and in shotgun evenly.

Irv is going to be in a TE/HB role where he moves all over the formation to give us a blocking advantage.  This will be used to give Brady pre-snap info.  We will also use him in the pass game as he has shown flashes.

Henry will play a more tradition TE role, but he will split out into the slot around 35-40% of the time.  Henry will run every type of route regardless of position.  However, when he splits out, we will use him as a blocker at times for a WR screen.

Golladay will be our #1 and is going to get his share of targets regardless of coverage.  We are going to let him do what he does best which is win contested balls.

Hollywood is going to be our JOAT in this formation as we will use him like we did Tyreek early in his career.  We are going to give him screens, quick slants, end arounds, jet sweeps, and some deep shots to keep him heavily involved and stress the ANC defense.  We especially want to use him on WR screens on those sets where we have Henry motioned out into the slot.  Essentially anything we can do to get the ball into his hands quickly and see what he can do.

We are going to also use a few long-developing play-action plays in this set.  Golladay, Hollywood, and Henry will be the primary targets and use option routes or double moves to get open.  Aaron will run an underneath route to give Brady another option.  Irv will be used as a 6th blocker to make sure Brady has all day to throw.

3 WR - Our 2nd set for this game(25%), we are going to typically sit in shotgun and use a quick passing attack that allows Brady to read and react quickly.  Kirk or MVS will come in for Irv while Hollywood goes to the slot to give him a free release.  We will put a WR in motion across the formation to give Brady pre-snap information, so he can attack single coverage in man and find the soft spots in zones.  This will be used in more hurry up situations and to switch up tempo.

Look for us to use double moves on their corners with semi-frequency.  We will leave Henry or Jones in to block on those plays to give Brady plenty of time to find the open man.  The other of Henry or Jones will serve as a check down.

Defense -
We welcome Sheldon Rankins to our DT group as we are going to throw him in immediately.  We are going to rotate our 4 DT group with some frequency to keep them fresh with B Williams playing more on early downs to shut down the inside run.

3 WR - Cover 2 Man - Thornhill and Joyner take deep halves.  Slay takes Watkins, Gareon takes Preston, Byron takes the slot.  Tremaine takes the TE and Rashaan take the RB.  We will play this formation the majority of the time in 3 WR sets.

- Cover 1 Man - Thornhill is deep middle.  Slay takes Watkins, Gareon takes Preston, Byron takes the slot.  Tremaine takes the TE and Rashaan take the RB.  Joyner is going make this look like Cover 2 then he will either come on a delayed blitz or he will double a WR.

- Cover 2/3 Zone - We will incorporate a fair bit of zone(25%) just to try and get Cousins to do something stupid.

4 WR - Rashaan comes out and Hilton comes in.  We will alternate between Cover 2 man and Cover 2 Zone.

2 TE - Cashman comes in for Byron.  He takes Knox in coverage and Tremaine takes Fant.  we will again alternate between Cover 2 Man and Cover 2 Zone.

N'Keal Harry inactive.

Better for me as I said if he doesn’t play Zach Pascal takes his spot who had 5 Catches for 76 yards and a TD today. One of my best receiving days for my young weapons this year. Happy with the two rookies Fant and Williams getting 3TDs and Pascal is a 3rd year guy.

He plays safety and nickel corner.  Plus, Knox and Fant aren't exactly world-class blockers.  Knox is solid, but Fant is real real real bad.  So the additional coverage ability is nice.

This was a joke going back to week one where I said he's a safety who plays slot and you told me he's only a corner

I don't think I did?  Especially considering week 1 I had him and Joyner alternating between NB and S.

It was more about playing time with Ishmael getting more run with Kazee only getting like five snaps and you saying they treated Ismael like a third lb against the two TE while Kazee is more a corner

Losing Cashman and having to play a slot whatever allows Anchorage to get some nice gash runs but I don't think their defense makes enough plays to keep Brady from picking apart majority zone d even if though they are gonna get a couple sacks against an average bdl line
