Singapore Sentinels

Motivation

Keep Rome out of the playoffs by giving them the L.

Offensive Strategy
Formations:  11 “Bunch”/ 10/ 12   Scheme:  Pass (60%) vs Run (40%)

We’ll join the cool kids by using the bunch formation to one side with Allen, Waller and Miller. Conley will be the single deep WR on the opposite side. Using 11 “Bunch” as our primary formation (50%) this week, including receiving option routes designed to find space in Cover 2 and 3 blitzes that Rome likes to deploy.  We favor the matchups against a  secondary that Rodgers can take advantage of by employing a quick passing game that includes Latavious Murray on swing and flat routes.

Darren Waller and Jimmy Graham form a solid 2TE set for our 12 personnel package that we will use about 30% of the time and should own the seam against Rome’s LB’s. Keenan Allen, Chris Conley and Anthony Miller will flood the field with a variety of routes (slants, crossing, hooks, etc) creating lots of opportunities for Rodgers to get the ball out versus the Rome pass rush..

For the remainder of the passing snaps (15%) we’ll look to spread out their secondary and go to a 4WR  set with Mecole Hardman and Corey Davis being used as field stretchers. And Cole Beasley used as a second slot WR.

We will continue with the hot hand this week at running back. Latavious Murray will be our main back again getting 12-15 carries and 6 or so targets. Le’Veon Bell will be his backup this week and will get 5-7 carries and a few targets as well. James Conner is the emergency only back this week. We think we should be able to run either inside or out without many issues.Opening up play action against the Eternals.

Defensive Strategy
Formation:  4-2-5 / 3-2-6

Drew Brees doesn’t like to get hit and will try and protect his injured thumb. We’ve got four legit pass rushing threats on the outside in Danielle Hunter and Chandler Jones with Everson Griffen and Preston Smith off the bench, the pressure won’t let up. It’s gotta be a two-sided rush because if it’s just one guy, the offense can shift, slide, double-team, chip — and take a single rusher out of the game. With two pass rushers the offense can’t account for both of them without keeping an extra guy in to help. And that takes away one of Drew's options downfield.

We also have to get a good push up the middle and shrink the pocket so Drew can’t step up to avoid the outside rush. He’s gotta feel like he’s surrounded. Like he’s got nowhere to go. Aaron Donald is in midseason form and is solid versus the run. Shelby Harris will be paired with him again this week as the starters. Rome has a talented OL but we think we can wear them down with our rotation of David Onyemata, Roy Robertson-Harris and DeMarcus Walker keeping the guys in the middle fresh so they can play for all 60 minutes.

We will blitz a few times with Reggie Ragland finding the open gap in the middle but will generally only bring four rushers, which will allow us to drop six or seven men into coverage. Our back seven are all solid coverage guys allowing us to matchup with Rome’s receiving threats. Deion Jones will be the spy on Phillip Lindsey/Todd Gurley and cover them out of the backfield. Our Run defense is top notch up front but we respect the Rome run game.

We expect Rome to deploy a Bunch formation a lot to try and free up receivers for Drew. We’re going to combat it by showing Man coverage on the bunch but having only the corner over the lead receiver (Quinton Dunbar) in man to man and press that receiver at the line to disrupt his timing. The other two corners are pattern matching. The outside cornerback (Jason McCourty) will match any out-breaking route, and the slot corner (Jonathan Jones) will match against any in-breaking route. Kareem Jackson will cover the opposite side boundary receiver in man coverage. Duron Harmon will be the deep high safety this week. When not blitzing, Reggie Ragland will provide interference from his linebacker spot as the ‘Rat’ defender responsible for reading the QB, directing traffic, or disrupting any crossers coming over the middle.

Desmond King comes in for Dime situations.

TL:DR: Pressure Brees, disrupt the bunch formation. Account for the RB’s.

@ Rome Eternals

Offense

Offense

We are generally gonna use trips formation as this allows Drew to tell pretty quickly if it's man or zone.  We'll be moving Edelman in motion as well to help the presnap read. We don't plan on doing anything fancy here.  Floods, wr screens and seams against zone. Full route tree with our WR against man.

If Singapore just decides to play sides with their corners, we'll put Demaryius Thomas on the Dunbar side and put Edelman, Cooper and Juju on the other.   Juju had a nice game week one against mccourtey so we are unafraid there. Jones has looked solid against lackluster passing attacks and Desmond King has not looked good in coverage.  If they don't do individual assignments we will target King regularly.

Regardless of how they line up defensively we are gonna run a lot of combo routes and pick plays against man coverage to get some wide open looks   Expect slants, comebacks and go routes depending on how the corners are playing. Captain Brees uses hand signals to wr for these calls pre snap

Lindsey and Gurley will get involved in the passing game also.  If they go blitz heavy(more than four guys) , we'll start keeping a back in to block

Up front obviously Singapore has a really good front but we have the best tackle tandem in the league which allows us to double Aaron Donald on the inside while Shelby Harris provides nothing in pass rush department.

We'll run some draws pitches and screens as extension of the run game but we'll probably be passing 70-30

Near the goaline we'll put in the two TE look with mack, Smith at fb in this formation

Tl/dr :  Air raid . Captain Drew reads the d presnap.  Run enough 30% to keep them honest

Defense

This week we welcome in A Aron and the balanced Singapore offense.  Singapore likes to run with two TE so we're gonna go with a big nickel look this week.

Ray's Hawn Jenkins gets the big nickel responsibility as he often plays this role in the charger Irl d.  He is tasked with Waller coverage with help over the top from Tre Boston who is in his usual cover one safety role.   Hicks is gonna be responsible for TE two while Milano gets Bell or whatever RB they use this week. Humphrey has Allen while Prince takes the other WR.  Three wide nrc comes on for Milano. . Four wide brings in Jackson for Jenkins with hicks covering RB or te. Boston patrols the middle of the field

Up front we like Mccoy and Davenport against the left side of their line so we'll have meat wall Brockers or Ionnidis line up tween RG and C on passing downs to force the initial help there.  You will notice Jarrod Wilson has no assignment yet as we plan on rushing five every play. Wilson will get coverage of whichever player is blitzing or blitz himself. Normally our blitzes will be coming from Rodgers blind side as we feel that's the side we have an advantage on   whichever side our blitz is coming on, the opposite de is tasked with setting the edge to keep Rodgers from rolling away from the blitz.

If they think outside the box and go three te we'll take Humphrey onto Waller with prince getting the other WR with

They just benched Bell for everything but third down work last week and we all know that'll probably have him quit on his team. :)   Regardless, we have 8 in the box to stop the run

We will occasionally run some cover two and three zone blitzes to keep the offense honest

If man is getting beat we are gonna drop into cover two zone more often out of nickel base.  The cover two zone requires athletic intelligent linebackers which we have two of

Tl/dr

Don't give Rodgers time. Trust the corners. Big nickel

Good ole predictable BCB recycled game plan. Thanks.

I'll enjoy crushing Desmond Kingy  with no help outside on Cooper or Juju thanks and taking out you're "rat" trips disruptor being in four wide.  And because I'm so predictable you prepared four the wrong defense.  Thanks

You mean the defense that looks like it has Tre Boston double covering Waller as the deep safety over the Top ,while simultaneously "patrolling the middle of the field"

Or the other Safety "will get coverage of whichever player is blitzing or blitz himself."

I just see a lot of double talk and trying to cover every possible situation. I don't need to prepare for this defense it looks like it confused itself enough.

Yes first read is waller if he's running deep if not deep safety. Idk why that's a hard concept

The other safety is either blitzing or taking the coverage assignment of someone who is

I’m not a fan of the mid play changes in coverage or assignment.

Not mid play.  If player a is assigned the blitz, Wilson covers who player a is normally covering. Or player b blitzing same or he himself blitzing. Those are all presnap calls

This has all the makings of a great game. These two teams are really good. Inspite of the pass pro issues in their own right, Singapore is properly well equipped to make Brees earn everything. The biggest difference is while Aaron Rodgers will struggle behind that OL, Murray + Bell do enough in accumulating total yards to establish some drives. I think Singapore’s ability to defend with their LBs and secondary are the difference makers.
