The ST units of other teams both stop fake punts and get return yardage. That we - supposedly - have to surrender the return yards to prevent a trick play.......... Do they though? Fake punts are a relatively unusual event, and usually the result of the punting team seeing a tendency in the receiving team they can take advantage of. I am not sure we have enough data to say there are teams that do both because of the small number of fake punts in a season.

I think you are selling the second choice short- they have won 7 games after all. 7-2 after the second hardest schedule is a better team than you have been indicating over the last two days.

So apparently other teams arent overly concerned with them and arent suffering the consequences (because they're an unusual / rare event) - and they're picking up return yards. Hence, why's Green Bay (apparently) so concerned with them that they're forfeiting punt returns? I'm not so sure our lagging return yards is because we're freaked out about possible fake punts. Perhaps, but I wish they had worried about fake kicks back in 2014. They are events that seem to show up at the worst possible times. Regardless of whether or not people here want to accept it. Tough to win in this league, and our only losses came against a desperate Eagles team and a Chargers team that we flew all the way across the country to face.

To be fair that philly game... they needed it more. And for the Chargers... gb just beat chiefs in kc, had to traveled to the west for their last afc team. They are human... they know afc teams don’t matter in the big picture landscape and if there was a game to “not get up for” it was that one. There's three ways to look at the punt return stats: 1. We have -8 punt return yards on the season. The next closest team has +41. We're an absolute joke of a unit. 2. The difference in punt return yardage between this team and the 16th ranked NFL team is 11.5 yards per game. This is not at all a big deal. 3. There have been 2 punt return TDs all year. There have been 4 kick return TDs all year. Special teams return units don't matter except not turning the ball over.

Forget about TD's. That's clearly a bridge too far for this unit. I'd just like a return unit capable of picking up positive yards. Give the offense better field position. Keeps it from starting inside their own 20 too often.

MacReady
Trevor Davis was capable of picking up some decent return yardage AND not fumbling the football but y’all ran him off to Oakland.
