Singapore Sentinels

Motivation - It’s time to finally slay the Dragons. This team is nothing like the one that started the season but we will respect them nonetheless..

Offensive Strategy
Formations: 21 / 11 / 12 | Scheme:  Pass (50%) vs Run (50%)

Passing Attack/Protection Assignments
Rodgers will have full autonomy to make calls at the line pre-snap and make adjustments as needed to utilize his weapons to their best ability. Rodgers can use his legs to extend plays and will throw it away to limit turnovers in this game as controlling the ball will be the key to defeating the Dragons. We get a bunch of people back this week off of injury and suspension. Joe Staley is back at LT and we will slide Matt Feiler over to LG to solidify that side of the OL.

Keenan Allen can use the whole route tree, allowing Rodgers to target the entire field of play. Chris Conley will stretch the field and get over the top of the Seoul secondary.  Darren Waller provides additional protection against the blitz from Seoul’s back seven, and is a reliable chain mover that becomes a big target in the Red Zone.

Kyle Juszczyk returns so we will be able to shift back to our base 21 personnel and send both backs out wide while Seoul tries to stop the run. Juszczyk is especially dangerous in play action where he can go on delayed passing routes to serve as a safety valve for Rodgers. Murray, Bell and Hunt are all capable receivers out of the backfield.

Backups Miller and Hardman will also get work this week in 3 and 4 WR sets versus the Dragon Secondary. If Josh Gordon plays he’ll get red zone looks. Jimmy Graham comes in for 12 Personnel as an additional threat/blocker in short yardage situations.

Running Game
Latavious Murry continues to get the start this week in our RBBC, landing roughly 50% of the rushing attempts.  Le’Veon Bell receives 30% of the carries allowing him to contribute his big play ability. Kareem Hunt makes his season debut and will get 3rd down work to ease back into the swing of things and as a situational matchup nightmare for the Dragons. This will keep the base 21 personnel fresh for the entire game, increasing their chance for a big play.

We’ll run the ball both inside and outside against the Dragons using our FB and pulling guards to get our running backs to the second level. Once our guys hit open space they can force a missed tackle or two and get chunk yardage.

TL:DR; Balanced attack to control the ball and grind out a win against the Dragons.

Defensive Strategy
Formations:  4-2-5 (Big Nickel) / 3-2 Big Dime | Scheme:  Cover 1 / Man with Blitz

Pressure/Run D
Danielle Hunter and Chandler Jones will use their impressive wingspans to crash the outsides and look to pressure Murray into making mistakes. In 3rd down situations extra pass rushers like Preston Smith and Everson Griffen will keep the pedal to the metal on Murray. Aaron Donald and Shelby Harris can effectively clog any interior rushing lanes against the Seoul running backs.   Keeping a solid rotation of guys like David Onyemata and Roy Robertson-Harris will allow us to wear down the depleted Seoul OL.

Deion Jones calls the plays and will be used to mainly cover Travis Kelce this game as he’s one of the best cover LBs in the league. Reggie Ragland will blitz 20% of the time on stunts up the middle and will be spying on Murray. With constant pressure our front four should be able to force a few turnovers which I think will be the key to winning this game.

We will dial up some zone blitzes, as well as including fake blitzes off the edge, dropping outside backers into zone coverage in an attempt to confuse Murray into holding onto the ball a little longer.. With Seoul not knowing where the pass rush is coming from, Aaron Donald and company will be celebrating coverage sacks.

Coverage Assignments

With injuries pushing Tyrell Williams and Crowder into being the top receiving options we like our chances this week. Kelce and second TE Hooper and they main threats.

Deion Jones will cover Kelce underneath with a second defender in Harmon over the top and should help eliminate any big plays in the seam. Jason McCourty and Quinton Dunbar will play man coverage on their side respectively. Jonathan Jones will cover Hooper or over the slot in 3WR situations. Kareem Jackson will be responsible for covering  the running back on passing plays. Desmond King will be the Dime backer.

We think we can limit Murray’s options with our greatly improved secondary enough to force Seoul into making tough choices where our man coverage gives our guys a great chance to jump a route or break up the pass.

@ Seoul Dragons

Offense

We will line up mainly in two formations this week. Our classic 2TE formation but also our 3TE formation in about 35% of the snaps. We expect Singapore to counter with a 3-4 base defense but we also planned for the case where they go with a big nickel / 3 stand up LB just in case.

Vs 5 rushers: We have one of the best set of tackles in BDL so we aren’t worried about Singapore edge rushing potential. We will keep those matchups 1vs1 and let Stanley and Okung do their thing. Aaron Donald will be our big worry here, especially when lined up vs Mike Person if LDT happens to be out. In this scenario we will run the ball a bit more, with Howard and Drake getting an equal share of the snaps. We are going to trap Donald a bunch, trying to use his aggressiveness against him. We want him to think twice before over committing to rushing the passer which should help our guards down the road.

Vs 5 defensive linemen, we will also have better matchups to exploit in the passing game. Either we will have all our TEs and RBs in single coverage, or Singapore will not have any safety deep. We will have a lot of quick passes directed to Kelce and to whoever is covered by Ragland. There will also be a bunch of plays where we will try to target Ragland on deeper passes, either with Drake running RB wheels, or with Hooper/Everett going deeper with possible double moves to burn Ragland. We will also use the same plays with Kelce since, despite Jones being a quality LB, we like him against almost every LB 1vs1. On these plays, additional protection will be given to Kyler, with either a TE or a RB staying in pass pro to give him additional time to complete those passes. Obviously, if we have a TE vs an edge rusher in coverage, we will target this matchup every snap.

If Singapore chooses to not have a safety placed deep, then we will have a lot of Kyler bootlegs to Tyrell Williams side and target him deep vs McCourty/Dunbar, which we expect can provide us big plays. We will also alternate and use those plays for Robinson and Callaway, especially when lined up vs McCourty who probably can’t match up with them speed for speed at this point of his career.

Vs 4 rushers: Should Singapore go back a 4-3 or a Big Nickel front, we will adopt a slightly different approach. Donald will be doubled every snap and Drake/Howard will be responsible for blitz pickups and run delayed routes.

If we see 5 DBs in the game, we will run the ball around 60% of the snaps, using Kyler legs as well to stay unpredictable. If we see 3 or 4 LBs (when in 3 TE formations) then again we will look to move the ball with our TEs and Drake, targeting Jewell and Ragland frequently. With a solid protection we think we can give more time for our guys to be open. If Kelce is doubled with Ragland and a safety we will motion him out wide to give use a lighter box.

Defense

Our defensive goal is quite simple in this game. We think we can stop the run, provide solid coverage and let our DL hit ARod.

Defensive line rotation. We want to keep our guys fresh all game long. Collins and Taco Charlton, who we welcome in Seoul lineup for the first time after a couple of solid performances, will come in mainly on passing downs. Lancaster and Barnett will come in mainly on running downs. If Okwara is out, Barnett gets the start and him and Charlton will see an equal share of snaps. We think the right side of our line can beat Singapore left side. On the left side of our DL, more dedicated to stop the run, we will use some stunts and spot blitzes to help our pass rush coming from everywhere.

Man coverage. We will run a man coverage scheme with the following assignments

Allen – Darby + Marcus Williams

Conley/Gordon – Wallace

Miller/Conley – K’Waun Williams

Waller – Shaq Thompson

Graham – Thomas Davis

RB – Justin Reid (in box to help stop the run)

Damian Wilson is the free man so we will use that to change things from snap to snap and keep Arod from guessing. Either there will be a blitzer, or we will have Wilson sitting in zone, or we will have Wilson covering the RB and Justin Reid dropping back in deep zone or doubling Gordon or Waller.
