I mean it was guaranteed because of the 5th year option but assuming he got cut that 5th year was rescinded right?? I don't know much about the way the contract works with a 5th-year option but this would be really terrible if so.

Since the Texans claimed him on waivers. they accepted all of the terms of his contract. If he had cleared waivers then the current contract would have been null and void. By getting claimed, the Bucs can actually gain 980 k in cap space, which they can roll fwd for free agancy next season.

Funny that Apple ended up being better, but Gettleman dumped him anyway bc his pathological hatred of anyone associated with Jerry Reese. He does have bit of an injury history too RIP.

He does have bit of an injury history too RIP. It would have to be a season ending injury, right? Not like he's clearing $10mm for a shin bruise or something... The Texans are spending the prorated amount of his 4th year to see if he can get something going with seven+ games left. If he does (which is possible - very unlikely, but possible) then the Texans have an ascending CB on a cheap deal that can be extended after next season. If he doesn't, he could be cut for nothing, as that 5th year holds a zero cap hit (we opted on Kevin Johnson's 5th year, then cut him in the off-season with no penalty). The only risk here is a significant injury that'll require surgery. I mean, he could go Minshew to his hand after downing a bottle of Jack, but that's a bit extreme...
ET80
So, Hargreaves looked pretty good yesterday - not the most physical guy out there, but very sticky in man coverage. He drew TY Hilton a few times, didn't give up big ground against him (Hilton has been a problem against us recently). If this is a sign of things to come, this might be well worth it. Three years ago, the draftniks here would have been stoked at a Gaeron Conley/Vernon Hargreaves CB tandem... Let's see if both can live up to that billing in Houston.
