Yeah Saleh would be ideal but i don't think that will happen. Current defensive staff doesn't seem to have a lot of young upcoming coaches. Kocurek screams career D-Line coach to me(who knows though) and Holland is pretty old already. So you have Bettcher who is the run-game specialist and was a DC or Undlin who is the secondary coach and pass game specialist and has been a DC. Outside of that its Bullocks the safety coach or guys currently quality control guys.

One thing we know about Kyle, he really likes those quality control coaches and those are the ones he gets to take under his wings. Bullocks was actually the one I was thinking about. Under 40 years old I think and he has the safety positional group playing good ball. Bettcher has prior experience but I don't know if he will be the one that gets the call as Ryans replacement.

I just feel good about calling Ryans as the next DC so early in the season lol.

Kind of funny how subjective that is. This site has him at 42. It definitely seems like these voters don't watch the actual games.

I was watching the game against the chargers and kept thinking : why is he always single-blocked? Bosa never is. Maybe because that's because Crosby wins his one-on-ones, but doesn't get to the QB. The RT is only there to slow him down. He gets "pressure", but doesn't hit the QB. Bosa gets to the QB. So he requires more than just one blocker to slow him down.

Developing your own coaches is a great thing. I think with the replacement of Ryans it depends on when he leaves. If he goes this year i think Bradley or one of the inhouse people with former DC Experience could be the choice. If we promote one of our Quality control guys to ILB coach or something like that that could point to being on the track to becom DC or if Bullocks gets a bigger role.

I too believe that IF Ryans becomes a HC this offseason we would hire someone outside the team. We clearly had Ryans waiting for Saleh to get hired to get the position, now, I don't think there's any rumblings from within the organization that we have someone who could fill that role. I also don't think it will be Kocurek, he strikes me like Tomsula, a better D-Line coach than an actual DC or HC.

At some point, you need time to develop coaches. If we lost McDaniel, I guess we'd still go in-house with Scangarello, since we brought him back. But on defense, I don't think anyone has had time to really rise. Ryans himself barely had enough time to rise, and he had to make progress while on the job. So if he did get hired, I'd go outside of the organization, this time. But there are names I could see having potential down the line. Especially if Ryans stays a couple more years.

This is a weird one for me, but the Dolphins might be trying to outsmart everyone by grabbing a guy who is a year or two too soon. Not really sure the rationale behind this request.

From what I've seen of Mike's personality, I can see this interview going one of two ways:

  • "Hey, we like your quirkiness. This could work!"
  • "Wow, you seem really smart but very weird..."

I forgot who it was on Twitter but this person got the sense that Miami was gonna hire someone out of the box.

Just like Ryans, don't think this one has much of a chance but happy he's getting his name out there now.

Do we officially know if he counts as a minority hire? I think yes, but am not sure

Believe he would. Would we get 2 or because of Saleh and Mayhew do we get one after the ones we already have?

Separate year, separate hiring cycle do I have to assume that it's 2... One this and one next? He's been here two years, so I'm not sure why it wouldn't count. But who knows

Yeah it should count and getting two extra 3rd would be sweet. Would suck to lose him but if we have to choose between him and Ryans i prefer we got to keep Ryans.

McDaniel feels like Shanny's little brother who sits in the corner and is weird as hell but cooks up mad scientist level plays and is constantly feeding Shanny creative run plays and obscure Spider-Man level quips then goes back to not talking for 2 hours.

Also, whoever is offered the job in Miami better be doing a deep dive into why Flores was fired because that org smells a little rotten right now.

I don't get the sense a return for Garoppolo would be that pricey, either. Some teams believe you shouldn't have to give up a first-round pick for him because it's known that San Francisco is probably ready to play Lance, thus hurting its leverage. Plus, his $24 million salary on the last year of his deal must be reworked. But Garoppolo has played well enough to garner at least a strong Day 2 pick.

This is a man that is extremely plugged in and very good at what he does.

Looks like we can get a 2nd rounder for Jimmy.

Perfectly okay with that. Would love if we can get a second, conditional pick in 2023, but I'll happily take the second rounder
