Unfortunately, none of the alternates are going to get Pro Bowl credit this year. How does Armstead and Mostert go from leading their positions in votes just a few days ago to being alternates? N4L
https://mobile.twitter.com/RSherman_25/status/1207123539507081216 Makes sense why sherm was lobbying to play this past week, i forgot a huge chunk of his pay comes from being active. Something like 150k per game if memory serves. By making the probowl, some of that active, per game pay gets converted to base salary, which gets paid every week regardless of health. His contract also fully guarantees on 4/1. It's past the start of free agency, so we could still cut him after the season for very little dead cap, but we need his leadership and I don't think there is any way we cut him. I actually think he ends up at FS down the road

That's why he's in the mix. Not because he's playing that well. Same story with half of the guys on the rosters. Every year. Chrissooner49er
NIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIICK! He made the Pro Bowl in his ROOKIE year?! Fantastic. Of course, the Pro Bowl used to mean more than it does now....
NinerNation21
24 high-level executives and talent evaluators voted on NFL Awards. Here's how the 49ers' fared: MVP: No votes DPOY: No votes OROY: No votes DROY: Bosa 1st place with 18 of 24 votes COY: Shanahan 3rd place with 5 of 24 votes (Buzz, your girlfriend, WOOF) Exec of the Year: Lynch 1st place with 8 of 24 votes

I don't expect to win MVP or DPOY, but we should have some votes.

Ehh...six weeks ago I might have agreed with you that we should have some votes for DPOY, but at this point, there's no reason we should have votes for either MVP or DPOY. MVP is basically a 3-horse race and DPOY fits nobody on our defense because it's a stat-biased award and our defense stopped racking up stats.

For DPOY, Bosa will be in that race. This article was of NFL personnel, the actual awards are voted on by media members. The media LOVES Nick Bosa and he will almost certainly gain votes for it. I'm more surprised that Shanahan is 3rd in COY. I can't argue with McDermott and Harbaugh, but the 49ers were seen as a 7-9 win team and making zero noise in the playoff run. We're 2 wins away from running the table and forcing the NFC through SF for the Super Bowl. To me, that deserves more praise.
