The Myles Garrett incident

But Garrett reaction DOESN'T justify his assault. He escalated the situation significantly by removing and swinging a helmet.

Had he pulled and jostled at the facemask like Rudolph did, he would have reacted in a justifiable way. He took that pull/jostle and escalated the situation by removing the helmet - just removing Rudolph's helmet was an escalation of events. We're not even talking about the swing, the swing pushes the escalation much further. The only way Pouncey can escalate beyond that is if he tried to cut him at the knee and blow his knee (and livelihood) out. THAT would put Pouncey on an unforgivable level - trying to deliberately ruin Garrett's career.

I cannot stand Pouncey, but he's not in the wrong on this one. He met an escalation with the same level that Myles Garrett took it too (if anything, taking him down and throwing a few punches to a fully padded Garrett is actually pretty tame).

Stop being reasonable!!

Those head shots are probably worse than what Garrett did, but I think people are accustomed to seeing those hits. They're desensitized in a way. The Garrett play is rare for people to see, and on top of that it was outside of the play. Not surprised at the outrage TBH.

Fair take, but its not like it never happened before, but I get your point and its fair. But this will be the worst thing to happen until something else happens, and then after that, then after that....

Garrett was violent

And he shouldn’t have hit ‘em

But none of that means

That Mason’s a victim

Eight games or more

That suspension should do it

Instead of swinging the helmet

He just should’ve threw it

Glad masons OK

That could’ve been worse

a five pound helmet

weighs as much as a purse

Give Pouncey a medal

He protected his man

i still lol at a “lifetime ban”

I'm out of balls, but that deserves something. B|

I love you too, bud - but I see it as an understandable response to a guy taking another guys helmet off and then using it to hit somebody with. Not a right response, perhaps - but understandable.

I agree with that, I understand why he did it.  I also think he deserves to be suspended for his actions, even if I can appreciate why he did then.

I'll totally concede that NOBODY was in the right on this one. Outside observers will say this isn't a good look for the sport, at all.

Agreed.  Nobody was right, nobody was a victim.

The real victims in this situation are, as usual, Browns fans.

We just can’t have nice things.

Browns fans are happy
Steelers fans are salt,
But if we're being honest,
Villanueva is at fault.

Garrett did what he did
No matter the cost
By murking their O-line
His salad they tossed.

Garrett swung with force
And hit that dork Mason
And now we wait for Goodell
To hear what he's facin'.

But Rudolph's still alive
Through a stroke of good luck
It don't change the fact, though,
That Pittsburgh still sucks!

Baker is a piece of *** kissing ****.

Garrett ****ed up, but YOU RIDE FOR YOUR TEAMMATE.

You dont go through OTAs, training camp for years on end to be bashing your teammate publicly on national tv.

Anybody who understands locker room dynamic knows Baker is done at the Browns.
