2028 NFL DRAFT

This is going to be a weird draft.  I have the 30th pick, and a bunch of 2nds, 3rds, and 4ths.  I'm looking for a lot of new depth in this draft class.

Top Prospects Available
# on Board Projection Postion Name Height Weight Age Scout 1 Scout 2 Scout 3 40 Vert Broad 3cone Shuttle Bench

This is a weird class.  It appears very weak at the top of the first round, but the players are all pretty good athletes and young.  I could see a lot of the players being young with high upside.  Because of my cap situation I can't really afford to trade up much, if at all.  I will monitor a few prospects, but they'll have to drop into the 20s for me to even consider moving up.

CB Cotton is pretty meh for a top pick.  Other secondary players are FS McCoy, who only ran a 4.50, and then CB Tucker who is fast (4.38) but raw.  I'm skeptical that Tucker would be Normal dev.

WR Ross is small with really good agility but not elite top end speed.  He's a top end slot WR, not really a guy I would take as a top 5 pick.

There are several solid interior Oline players.  RG Justin McGhee could be one of the top overall players in this class.  He has a combination of great combine with good skills.  RG Shelby is stronger, and is arguably just as good.  He has great size too.  RT Perry Curry is a very good Oline prospect as well.  After moving on from Jonah Williams LG is a top priority for me, so if any of these guys drop to the 20s I will seriously consider trading up.

The DEs all look solid but not amazing.  The DTs look great but aren't needs.

I think HB Leveon Hobbs could easily fall to the 2nd round and be a pretty good 3rd down/#2 back for me.

OK time to start the draft.

#1 pick is CB Cotton (74) to the Ravens, Meh.  RG Justin McGhee (76) is the #2 overall pick to the Cowboys, that is very high for a Guard.  WR V Ross is the 3rd pick to the Jaguars.  The Eagles select MLB W McGrath #4.  The 5th pick is CB Dion Gary (68), ouch.  I didn't even have him on my board.

I need to advance to the 20s.

RG Clinton Shelby (78) goes #13 to the Redskins, he looks like a monster.

I've simmed to 20.  RT Curry and HB Hobbs are the only two first round prospects I have still on the board.  There are a lot of good Oline available later in this class though, and I'm not trading up for a backup RB.  I'm going to sim to 30.

So Curry is gone but Hobbs is still here.  I can't really justify taking a backup RB in the first round though.

There's another RT with an off the charts combine rated as a 2nd round pick that I think I'm going to take here.

With the 30th Pick in the NFL Draft the Cincinnati Bengals select:

RT Derrick Irwin, Oregon State

Pass Protector (75), Power (74), Agile (74)

xFJnHH6.jpg

- Normal dev, that's a bummer.  As you can see he's really well rounded though.  He'll get a chance to start at LG.  22 years old.

Time to sim to the 2nd.  I have the 3rd pick in the 2nd round.

Hobbs is still on the board.  Do I go backup RB here?  There are some really good other players though.  There's a high end Strong Armed QB.  There's an athletic Linebacker.  There's a solid pass rushing RE.  And there's a pretty good Blocking TE.  There are also other HBs who might be better than Hobbs.

I think I am going to take a backup RB here but it won't be Hobbs.

With the 35th Pick in the NFL Draft the Cincinnati Bengals select:

HB Sean Mallard, TCU

Power Back (73), Elusive Back (72), Receiving Back (63)

iXo2KAw.jpg

- Normal dev, oh man this is not going my way.  He should be a decent backup during his rookie contract though.  Not what I wanted at the top of the 2nd though.

I may consider moving up from my other 2nd round pick.  I'm going to sim a few picks first.  HB Leveon Hobbs goes immediately with the next pick, he was a 78 OVR....

I do need backup QB, and I think this QB is worth trading up a bit for.

*TRADE*

NO Saints Receive

#62 overall

#190 overall (6)

RT R Hocker (74)

CIN Bengals Receive

#42 overall

With the 42nd Pick in the NFL Draft the Cincinnati Bengals select:

QB Barry Hewitt, Nebraska

Strong Arm (69), Field General (66), Scrambler (59), Improviser (58)

ILd34Iv.jpg

- Wow, 4 picks in, all Normal Dev.  I don't know if I've ever done a whole draft without landing a single Hidden dev before.  Might be heading that way though.  He'll be a solid backup regardless.  That's what I was looking for in this draft anyways.

I'm going to sim to my 3rd round pick.

Wow the Linebacker I was considering taking at the top of the 2nd is still available.  I'm going to take him here.

With the 70th Pick in the NFL Draft the Cincinnati Bengals select:

LOLB Matt Griffith, Lehigh

Run Stopper (68), Speed Rusher (66), Power Rusher (66), Pass Coverage (65)

QIayPzS.jpg

- Jesus.  Normal Dev.  I don't get it he had a monster combine.  Again, he's very well rounded and will be a solid depth player.  But the dev traits are getting ridiculous.

I have another 3rd.

With the 94th Pick in the NFL Draft the Cincinnati Bengals select:

CB Keenan McAlister, Utah State

Zone (68), Man (67), Slot (66)

2iYmrfG.jpg

- Normal dev....again..... You always need more bodies at CB though and he's another well rounded prospect.  Kind of slow though.

I have several 4ths.

With the 105th Pick in the NFL Draft the Cincinnati Bengals select:

RE Sergio Thornhill, Auburn

Power Rusher (70), Run Stopper (68), Speed Rusher (63)

RWx77DQ.jpg

- Hidden Dev!

With the 124th Pick in the NFL Draft the Cincinnati Bengals select:

DJ Pleasants, FSU

Power (69), Agile (67), Pass Protector (66)

sRLhbcQ.jpg

- Normal dev, another backup Olineman.

There's nothing great here with my third 4th round pick so I'm going to trade out.

4th round pick - traded to Colts for future 4th .

With the 158th Pick in the NFL Draft the Cincinnati Bengals select:

K Anthony Blizzard, Air Force

Power (66), Accurate (64)

kjxZ5J0.jpg

- Normal dev, only 90 Kick Power.  Another mediocre pick.

7th round pick - traded to Dolphins for future 6th.

Well that's it.  Probably one of the worst draft classes I've had as far as star talent.  This draft filled my depth.  Sergio bailed me out on my Hidden Dev streak.

CUTS - FINAL 53 ROSTER - YEAR 10

I only have to cut 7 players, if they have PS eligibility left they will head there.

HB Tim Ellison (66) - PS - injury insurance.

TE Christian Otting (63) - CUT - He hasn't progressed and is out of PS eligibility.

RT Greg Hendrix (63) - PS - young prospect.

RE Rashaud Dell (67) - CUT - He's out of PS eligibility.

DT Richard Kendrick (67) - PS - young prospect.

LOLB Deontay Jenkins (67) - CUT - He's out of PS eligibility.

*TRADE*

Bulls Receive

ROLB Thomas Murray (71)

CIN Bengals Receive

7th Round Pick

Murray is a former 3rd round pick, not the greatest athlete and isn't the best scheme fit.  Still, he's solid so I figured he'd be worth a late round pick.
