Who will play corner with no Prince?  He's been better than I thought he would be.

Do you think HaHA! will come back for a similar deal? I would take that again in a heartbeat.

I don't feel you can let Jackson walk without all of a sudden having a huge hole to fill.

And if you cut Shaheen what are you going to do for comic relief without his shambling *** waddling across the field like a lost mascot with the eyeholes on his costume all jammed up?

Prince is 9 million savings.

Burton is 1.05 almost nothing.

You forgot Floyd he is 13.22.

I'd keep Patterson. He is decent value.  I'd keep Pinerio too.  I think he is upside player if you stick with him and don't destroy his confidence.

5 million for a kick returner and gunner who takes dumb penalties is a waste.

KR and gunners make 1 million tops.

I've mentioned this many times but I think it would be unwise for the Bears to move on from Prince next year at CB.  He has been one of our better defenders this season and it is not easy to replace a starter at the CB position.

If I'm GM then I'm re-signing the following:

  • Danny T
  • Holtz
  • McManis
  • Scales
  • One of HaHa (1 yr) / Bush (multi year)
  • Houston-Carson
  • Robertson-Harris
  • Coward

I like Nick Williams but I feel he is pricing himself out of Chicago right now with his play and RRH will be more easily cost controlled seeing how he is a RFA.

As Windy said, only guy worth an extension right now is Robinson.  All the others can wait.

How much will it cost?

The closest and easiest comparison for this is the deal that La’el Collins just signed with the Dallas Cowboys.

Before the season he got a 5 year, $50 million deal with $35 million guaranteed. That is obviously much less than Tennessee Titans left tackle Taylor Lewan got before the season started in 2018 which can hopefully put to bed any ideas that left tackles and right tackles cost similar amounts in 2019.

By the way, that deal was $80 million and $50 million in guarantees for five years.

Taking into consideration the going rate for right tackles and that time forces teams to pay more rather than less, my best guess would be that a 25 year old Jack Conklin would be looking at a deal for 5 years with something in the ball park of $10-12 million per year with $7-8.5 million guaranteed per year.

That breaks down to a 5-year, $55 million deal with $38 million guaranteed.

Numbers like that would put him in the top-5 among RTs in terms of annual value.

I'd sign Conklin in offseason.  Whatever QB you get is going to garbage if you don't upgrade the O line.

Agreed.  If I though of him as just special teamer.   But I think if O line and QB didn't suck butt, he would be more of an offensive asset as well.

Yes, but consider after a down year you might be able to get some guys extended at a discount versus having them have a bounce back year and hitting URFA.

I'd rather them take that chance.

If worst comes to worst and you lose that player in FA then you should get a good comp pick in return.

That's how the good teams stay good in this league i.e. the Patriots, Ravens, Steelers, Packers, Cowboys etc.  These teams are always among the highest in comp picks because they draft well and can afford to let their own homegrown talent leave when they are due for that big second contract.

I think you let Prince go.  I really, really like him, and he is a team leader, but you will probably need the 9 million and given his age a year early is always better than a year late.
