I am not rewarding any of this crap, not Jackson, not Cohen, nobody is getting paid except Robinson because it would lower his cap hit and he actually showed up for the season. He has been one of our better defenders this season and it is not easy to replace a starter at the CB position. If I'm GM then I'm re-signing the following: Danny T Holtz McManis Scales One of HaHa (1 yr) / Bush (multi year) Houston-Carson Robertson-Harris Coward I like Nick Williams but I feel he is pricing himself out of Chicago right now with his play and RRH will be more easily cost controlled seeing how he is a RFA. The closest and easiest comparison for this is the deal that La’el Collins just signed with the Dallas Cowboys. Before the season he got a 5 year, $50 million deal with $35 million guaranteed. That is obviously much less than Tennessee Titans left tackle Taylor Lewan got before the season started in 2018 which can hopefully put to bed any ideas that left tackles and right tackles cost similar amounts in 2019. By the way, that deal was $80 million and $50 million in guarantees for five years. Taking into consideration the going rate for right tackles and that time forces teams to pay more rather than less, my best guess would be that a 25 year old Jack Conklin would be looking at a deal for 5 years with something in the ball park of $10-12 million per year with $7-8.5 million guaranteed per year. That breaks down to a 5-year, $55 million deal with $38 million guaranteed. Numbers like that would put him in the top-5 among RTs in terms of annual value. I'd sign Conklin in offseason. I'd rather them take that chance. If worst comes to worst and you lose that player in FA then you should get a good comp pick in return. That's how the good teams stay good in this league i.e. the Patriots, Ravens, Steelers, Packers, Cowboys etc. These teams are always among the highest in comp picks because they draft well and can afford to let their own homegrown talent leave when they are due for that big second contract. I really, really like him, and he is a team leader, but you will probably need the 9 million and given his age a year early is always better than a year late.
