Week 13: Oakland at Arrowhead

It's early for a game day thread, but the weekend stirred the playoff picture quite a bit. Below is a link to the ESPN playoff machine.

To make a long analysis short, defeating Oakland this week, at home, will almost assure the division. We would be up two games on the Raiders, plus the tie breaker, with only four games to play. Winning any of the four clinches it. On the flip side, unless they lose tonight, we will be two games behind Baltimore with five to play. Most likely, we will have to play in the first week.

If we win out we could finish 2nd with a bye, but we'd need help from Houston and NE.

Winning out is asking a lot at this point. Don't forget that we have the Patriots after Oakland. Still, we are in the driver's seat.Win this week have four shots at closing the door.

Here's the rest of the schedule:

New England is really the only game they shouldn't run away with. Yeah, I realize they've been meh this year due to injuries and everything else. But, I believe they can run the table with this remaining schedule. I'm still convinced that New England are fraud's built up by a muffin schedule. The rest of the teams are mediocre clubs.

Just need to get the offense back on track and healthy and get back to putting up 35+ a game and things will fall into place nicely.

The game in Chicago is no cupcake. Still, if we sweep the three division games, it is mathematically certain we win the division and first round home field.

The early injury news is good. Hill might play and McCoy is not on concussion protocol.

FBO's rankings are out. The Chiefs are #4 overall, #3 offense, #14 defense, #7 ST. Oakland dropped to #24 after the collapse against the Jets.

For once, a good injury report. Damien Williams is out and everyone else plays. Sammy Watkins was ill during the week but practiced full speed on Thursday. The Raiders are also missing only one player.

One interesting point is that Gruden pulled QB Derek Carr in the second half meltdown against the Jets. There has been some talk about lack of confidence. Others say Gruden wanted to keep Carr healthy in a lost game (31-3 at that point). I think both are correct. Gruden wanted to protect more than Carr's body.

Getting antsy here  ... about time they kick it off  ...

Chill a bit. The time was moved to a late start.

For the early games, keep an eye on Ravens vs 49ers and Titans vs Colts. Both have playoff seeding implications for the the Chiefs.
