Brown is a really good player. If we trade down and pick him, I'd be ok with that, depending on who is on the board still.

The Herbert stuff is obviously a smokescreen, but Gettleman is just crazy enough to do it. Maybe that lends itself to other people believing it more? Who knows.

I am still holding out hope that he is not that crazy....

Gettleman is definitely a little crazy, but there is an extremely small chance he actually takes Herbert at 4. There are a million other good explanations as to why a lot of work was done on Herbert that don't end at the conclusion "the Giants are taking him".

No I understand that. I just remember rumors of the Giants liking Herbert every year since he was able to declare, so that's why I am thinking "DG isn't that crazy:|"

If Brown is our and the Lions target, why would trading down be an issue?

No, I wasn't clear.  Sorry.  I think the Lions think they can trade down and still get brown.  If he is our target, they can't.  So in theory, if our "smokescreen" with Herbert works and the Lions trade down, then Brown will be there at 4 for us.

On everything, I will be furious if the Giants was more premium capital on another Run Stuffer (albeit Brown is a really good one), I would then cry. I would then drive to New Jersey, through the Quarantine zone and fight DG.

EDIT: My head is hurting from how real a possibility it is we take Brown at 4.

I think there's a real chance that we don't see a trade in the top 5 and that the lions take brown at 3.  I'm hoping that's the case.

Rumor is they want to jump us and keep pick #5.

If that's the case, would you give up #4 for 18, 26, and 39? I would.

I don’t know if I would tbh. Yeah that’s a lot of picks but this draft isn’t very deep you overall it seems. More picks doesn’t necessarily mean better.

Would you rather have

Jedrick Wills/Isaiah Simmons

or

Josh Jones, Zach Baun, and Michael Pittman?

Probably, yeah. Those picks plus our 36 is four high quality starters. With that capital you could go:

18: OT Josh Jones

26: C Caesar Ruiz

36: OLB Zach Baun

39: FS Antoine WInfield (or sub in Delpit or Ashtyn Davis)

Draft the best receiver at the back of the third round, best defensive player in the fourth (Logan Wilson maybe?). That team looks a lot more filled out on paper.

Another course of action is you could potentially spin one of those twos into a first round pick in 2021. Teams get desperate sometimes in the early portions of round two.
