Lamar Jackson

Lamar had a historic season at the age of 22

He had a subpar playoff game yesterday. That said, he is being fed too large of a portion of the blame pie. The defense is the primary reason they lost that game. Lamar didn't help the situation by playing anywhere near his regular season level, but he doesn't deserve to single handedly take the blame for this one the way fans are trying to do. People want to see him fail, revel in the loss, and use it to bring down a player who deserves more praise than anything else on the whole.

He took a big L in the playoffs, he and the whole team deserved it... and nevertheless, when next August rolls around Lamar will correctly be the MVP frontrunner and the Ravens will correctly be the Super Bowl favorites

This is still only the start of things for him, and I'll be excited for another season of proving the haters wrong

He lacks a certain physical attribute most QBs have and some fans can’t get over it and root for him to fail.

Just stop with this ridiculous notion. No one is going to take you seriously if you keep banging this moronic narrative.

The Titans had absolutely nothing to do with the Ravens abandoning their running game and identity. Ravens were down by 8 in the 3rd quarter, and still pretended like they were down 30.

Mark Ingram was at 3.7 YPA (Derrick Henry was sitting at 4 for most of the game)

Gus Edwards was at 6.7 YPA

The Ravens never even tried to run the ball with them to keep the offense in rhythm.

Yeah, let's not give the Titans any credit for completely containing the two main priorities in the Raven's attack (something NO team has been able to do this year up to this point). It starts with Jackson, then Ingram on the RPO. The Titans completely obliterated both. Gus came in to spell on his first run and ran for 19 yards. He had two more carries for 1 yard the rest of the game (3 for 20 yards) and was also stuffed on 3rd and 2, which led to the Titans stuffing Lamar on 4th and 1 the next play and turning the ball over on downs. To assume Edwards' sample size was an indication of anything is far fetched.

The Titans forced TWO turnover by downs on short yardage runs by the Ravens. One of which was a 13 play drive coming out of the half, which preceded to the Titans going up 21-6. We were past mid 3rd quarter at this point. The Ravens didn't abandon the run until the end of the 3rd quarter when the Titans went up 28-6 off the Jackson/Ingram fumble (still running the ball here). Justice Hill didn't even have a carry. He was only in the game once the Raven's were in passing only situation and got scrap yards.

So yeah, the Titans had absolutely nothing to do with it. With that said, I think Roman is grossly overrated and definitely deserves blame. If you look at his resume, his gimmick becomes easy and clear. He rides high on new RPO style QBs coming into the league who make him look better than he really is (Tyrod Taylor, Kaepernick etc..). He's going to flame out eventually, and so does his QBs. I'm not going to assume this with Jackson, but we've definitely seen this before.

Where’s the thread full of haters calling for Josh Allen to play running back? He’s a substantially worse thrower of the football than Lamar Jackson and is way more inclined to put his head down and take a hit like an RB. How come it’s “Lamar has been figured out” or “he sucks and could never throw the football” but Mayfield and Darnold, significantly worse in all phases of quarterback play than Lamar Jackson, just need more time? I wonder if the consensus was that the last dozen or so MVPs who failed to win the super bowl were garbage at their position all along, and should have been punters and kickers.

The NFL as a league has a history of conservative attitudes and racist subtext. That definitely comes into play with blind hate of Lamar and saying things like he’s just a wide receiver. If you can’t see it you are giving yourself a lack of context some players have to operate in at the quarterback position. Look at the hate Cam Newton used to get for SMILING during games. People aren’t able to overlook their biases (here’s looking at you Polian) and it shows in the blind vitriol for Lamar that a lot of other quarterbacks don’t seem to be the target of.

Talking about Lamar in the context of an NFL fan base, a large portion that has historically sought to see black quarterbacks fail (Warren Moon could talk a lot about this topic), IS a discussion about football.

The most pathetic part about this is the Titans absolutely getting none of the credit. Mike Vrabel is cementing himself as we speak...

So now I’m a troll because a topic of discussion makes you uncomfortable? You’re welcome not to participate I wouldn’t force anyone to obviously, but this is a reality facing players in the league and I feel it’s definitely relevant to discussion of the NFL.

How many times were you warned yesterday to not talk about race here? The rules are pretty damn simple.
