RandyMossIsBoss 2,136 Posted Monday at 05:14 AM This is one of the few "stats" I've heard in awhile that actually shocked me, that Buffalo hasn't been on SNF in 12 years. I didn't realize the NFL put such a premium on their SNF matchups over their MNF matchup (TNF on the other hand, I knew they liked to give crappy teams to meet their minimum primetime appearance(s)). So now that leaves the Jags with the longest drought, who haven't been on SNF since 2008. Surprised they didn't get any SNF games in 2009 or 2018, following their playoff appearances the prior years. Guessing they were scheduled for 1 late in season and got flexed out both times?

I guess their best matchups came early in 2018 so they couldn't get flexed to SNF later in the season.

The 2018 Jags were coming off a close AFCC loss the year prior, they were definitely expected to repeat as AFCS champs and field another elite D. I looked it up and it was indeed flexed. Steelers in week 11 was on SNF, but seeing as the Jaguars were 3-6 heading into that game it got flexed out for Vikings-Bears. I got the year wrong, I was thinking their 11-5 divisional round year was 08, but it was 07, and they did get an SNF game for that 2007 season, and this time it came early (also against the Steelers) so it didn't get flexed. Haven't been on SNF since.

Ehhhhhhhhh, NBC is the only national channel that gets a primetime game (FOX Thursdays kinda count but since it's rotated so much they haven't exactly built branding), and it's their only game. So it's almost entirely ratings driven until they can flex games, which is why the NFCE dominates the slot, they're the biggest east coast ratings draws which works out as the east coast is the principle market. Teams being good is just a nice bonus, first priority is market share. Edited Monday at 01:09 PM by Thelonebillsfan

Yes, it's pretty bad. Rams/Cowboys is the probably the only that seems interesting because both are fighting for a playoff spot.
soflbillsfan 141 Posted Monday at 03:04 PM This move is for playoff implications as of right now they are considered the 5th and 6th seed for the AFC not really sure what other game you would expect it to be. If anything I would have preferred the Ravens Bills which is this coming weekend but the following week are expected to be Bills either 10-3 or 9-4 going to a Pitt team who will likely be 8-5 as they play the Cardinals who just got destroyed by the Rams. Titans/Texans could be flexed in their 2nd match up which is week 17 as that could be also a big game with the titans playing very well lately
tom cody 338 Posted Monday at 04:14 PM Should be a good game here. Right now these are your 2 AFC wild card teams. Looking at the Week 15 schedule I think this was the right game to flex.
Trentwannabe 823 Posted Monday at 04:20 PM It was either this or the Texans/Titans and the Texans play the following Saturday at 1pm whereas the Bills will be 4:30pm. No idea if that played a part or not.
