Couple of the regions paper outlets have put out a few articles the past few months on Amish puppy mills. Weve had a flood of Amish roll in over the past few years. When cruising by different Amish homesteads youd see huge spray painted signs saying "Puppies For Sale".

Always wondered why they never said what kind (apparently its any lol). Anyway. Noticed all the signs have vanished over the past few weeks.

Finally ran into my Amish buddy to ask him about all the hoopla. Thankfully it all sickens him, (whom breeds draft horses.) and he was filling me in on what all was going on. Not good. But all the regional breeders are hanging it up (basically forced by community from the way he put it), since the attention isnt good for their other businesses and they have a mega cheese factory opening soon.

Anyway. I and 2 of the kids are going window shopping with my buddy tomorrow. Some of these breeds Ive never heard of. Looking them up now.

That's good to hear that they are starting to hang it up. I'm located outside of Lancaster, PA (basically right in the middle of there and Philly) so our rescue gets a lot of the dogs puppy mills have used up and runts of the litter that won't sell. Makes me sick.

Disturbing and disgusting. But... Think Ive found a ChesBayRet to take in. 4yo, sweet and kind, great webbed feet (the most important of all dog traits). Maybe help get some of the puppy out the Golden, cause she destroys everything. Was a "mom" a few times already. So no more of that crap. Nothing but free-range farm living.

One of the kids fell in love with a couple pups called Beaucerons. (sp?) But said theyll get upwards 100lbs.

From sounds of things. Youre right in the heartbeat of this type mess. Yalls shelters must have been overflowing the past few years.

Yeah, thankfully a lot of the dogs from that area find rescue pretty easily but the dogs out of Philly aren't so lucky. The city shelter system there is such a joke.

So my friend hasn't finished sorting through official win pics yet, but did send me this candid shot she took of Hurry.

Looking like the teenager that she is, but definitely coming along nicely. Can't wait to see her after she has a litter next year.
