I keep throwing money at the front 7.

Armstead, chris Jones, Lawson, Ngakoue, Leonard Williams, Jordan Phillips, Clowney, Suh, McCoy, Quinn, JPP - this is actually an incredible FA class, and will be options across multiple tiers to bolster the DL. I want an elite front 4 like SF. More EDGE as well: Barrett, Fowler, Dupree

LB: Trevathan?, Van Noy, Littleton, Onwuasor, Hewitt, Correa

Yeah, I'm spending as much as I can on this defense still. Give me two more front 7 guys in this FA class, please.

I do like the idea of buying the defense and drafting the O to grow together. Only problem is I don't know if Rodgers would be okay throwing to a rookie, high draft pick or not. He did with MVS out of necessity last year and it was okay.

He will or he won't, but they're gonna have to draft receivers from this draft either way. Those front 7 available in FA are too good.

@incognito_man

Fully agree on the front 7.   Class is robust with options.  How many of them will actually hit FA is hard to say.   Pulled these numbers for the "non edge" types a while back.  looking for a DT that is stout enough, that can also offer some pass rush.

David Onyemata is a prime target.   Productive, great sparq score and NO is tight with cap space.

excellent! Love this.

Would love to see the rest of the Front 4 guys in my previous post added ;) Phillips is a player, but Buffalo is loaded. Also like Butler in Carolina. Lowry was a bad contract. I'd consider cutting him even and spreading the $4.5 million across next couple seasons...

Thanks for posting Squire.

Holy Hell, Lowry and Adams were even worse than I'd imagined when it comes to pressuring the QB this season.

First off, great post and thank you.

I am not familiar with Onyemata.  Does anyone know what his game is like?

For a pure DL, I like Butler and Hargrove, because I know a little about them.  But Onyemata has me very interested.  And...I must admit to having a man crush on Brockers from the Rams.  I think he could be excellent next to Kenny.  But given how Gute liked those younger guys who may break out, that swings it back to Butler, Hargrove and Onyemata (assuming that Armstead is a DE or Edge.  I do like him too.)

Don't know if this has been brought up but both Clark and Martinez agents haven't been contacted by Gute to discuss extensions.

I knew Martinez was on the bubble but kinda shocked Kenny's agent hasn't gotten a call. I think Kenny is solid but not elite. Maybe Gute doesn't want to break the bank on an NT. Maybe he let's Kenny walk and go the Pats route with cheaper solid vets like the Lawrence Guy types and invest the money on LBs with speed. Like the 2016 championship game this team got exposed again for their lack of speed. I'm thinking Gute is looking in that direction.

Maybe you talk numbers with Kenny at some time, but he's got the 5'th year option and then maybe a franchise designation.

If you were to start talking, you are taking those two numbers as a baseline moving forward.

But there's no real deadline for Kenny.  Team can control him easily for one more season and possibly a second one.

Kenny Clark is under contract this year though. Maybe they just want to see what they can swing with this FA class first before the money is spent. That one has a logic either way.

Martinez is probably out reaction. The market will shoot the moon and they aren't interested in making a lowball offer.

He mentioned the H word, but I don't think he has the leverage to really pull it off.

He will or he won't, but they're gonna have to draft receivers from this draft either way. Those front 7 available in FA are too good.

I think you need to put Rodgers in front of Greg Jennings and James Jones tape from their first years on loop so he can see that he just needs to Favre it and not give a **** who is on the other end.

...though if Rodgers had a little more of Brett's **** it yolo mentality we wouldn't necessarily have all of these chemistry conversations.

It would be nice to jump the market, especially since DL tend to get overpaid in FA.

Do you have a cite for this St. Vince?

I heard Leroy Butler a few weeks ago saying the Clark deal was all but finalized other than the number of years.
