hrubes20
I wonder how much the Nats were able to defer this time.

Leader
Jon Heyman - So Strasburg earned an extra 145M by opting out of the 100M and 4 years he had left. Greinke earned an extra 135.5M when he opted out of 71M left with Dodgers and signed for 206.5M with Dbacks.
MikeT14
He wanted to stay. He got paid (good for him). Also asked for and got his full no trade clause. Never wanted to leave imo.

ramssuperbowl99
This is shocking. I thought he'd get more than 4/$100MM, but holy crap. This isn't exactly $245MM NPV, but it's probably pretty close. After 2 years of teams just losing their minds penny pinching and driving down the market for every conceivable FA over and over again, suddenly those same guys are getting multi-year deals that match or in this case exceed what they should be getting. What the hell happened here. It feels like we came out of the Upside Down after 2 years.

NVRamsFan
Very glad the Dodgers didn't get involved in this. Best of luck Nats.
Slateman
The "interest" basically accounts for inflation (~3%). Hes still losing money because he cant invest some of it for 7 years. Probably about 7-15%

redsoxsuck05
This is good for baseball. We need more Lerners and less John Henrys. And less of whomever is Acuña and Albies’ agent.
