How much do you worry about MM?

No I'm not worried about him. The main qualm I have with MM is when he has a lead late I feel like he gets too conservative with his play calling. I understand you want to run out the clock by running the ball, but opposing defenses are going to gear up to stop the run, it's very predictable. I would like see the play calling mixed up a bit in the closing minutes in an effort to take more time off the clock.

I've heard the exact opposite too at times. That he wants to throw too much late. Could be on Aaron at the line too though?

Whole point of the thread boss. I just pointed out all of the things that worry me about MM..

I understand. I'm saying the truth is that barring maybe BB nothing will change that. You'll always have one concern or the other. Just the nature of coaching.

That's the point of my posts.

We're on the same page.

I agree here. It's my feeling that we throw way too much late, when we prob shouldn't. Defensively, I think we're more passive.

An understandable position, I do wonder though if you went back and looked what the failure rate of this stuff is.

Just playing scenarios, you're up 12 with 4 minutes to go.

Are you better off trying to score and risk giving the other team the ball back in a now one score game? or better off running three times, forcing the other team to use all it's timeouts and trying to force them to run 8 short/medium gains in a row to get it to one score?

I feel like a lot of times we win a close game and breathe deeply thinking, "oh thank God we recovered that onside kick, that was really close" when McCarthy knows that like 97% of onside kicks go to the receiving team and that's a good gamble to take?

In that scenario, I would run out the clock by running the ball. Being up by 12 and with that much time , I would feel much more comfortable with the defense ending the game. This last weekend though we were up by eight. In that situation, where you're up by one score, I feel much more comfortable putting the ball in Rodgers hands to end the game than strictly run the clock out. He takes care of the ball so well and hardly turns it over, I feel like extending the possession further with him ensures the other team doesn't get the ball back with much or any time left.

I love the guy, personally. Feel he has the right mindset for this team and all the guys that play for him seem to love him. Outside of Seattle NFC Title (which tbh was a complete team meltdown), I always thought he has called damn good games in the playoffs. Put it this way, in the NFC there's no current coach I'd rather have here.

I said this somewhere but I have to believe at least some of that crap is Aaron. There's no chance he's completely handcuffed to run calls.

We'll never know what is Aaron and what is MM. Between the two of them they need to figure that out though. You don't always need to stomp on your opponents throat. Sometimes the best way to kill them is to keep high pressure on the jugular and wait.

And like half our fans beg for throat stomping. I'm totally on your side here though.

It's all situational. I am all for throat stomping up until time becomes as big of a problem for them as you are. Some people don't realize three consecutive runs can actually result in a first down even if the defense knows it's coming.
