Looks like another quality veteran signing for the Saints secondary this week. DJ Swearinger if he can regain his form from the past couple years.

He was just cut recently by the Raiders after coming in to start in place of Karl Joseph. He was miserable. A liability in coverage and missed or gave little effort tackling on the field. He's not regaining any form. He was a street FA for a reason. Raiders cut him in favor of their 5th string safety.

Loved Swearinger. His breakout season is what I thought he’d be for most of his career.

But he’s booty now. Calling him “quality” is a stretch (in a football sense).

I think he's just there for depth. We have Bell, CJGJ, and Marcus Williams at Safety so we don't need a starter. Our rookie S Hampton was just put on IR and Bell missed last week to injury, so I think he's just in for veteran depth. Hopefully won't see him on the field too much

ST specialist Saquan Hampton and CB Bademosi (who?) were both put on IR to make room for Janoris Jenkins and DJ Swearinger.

Gotcha.

Do the Saints need STers? I don’t know if DJ plays special teams.

Doesn't change my point about him being a 4th string safety at best

Wasn't changing your point, but supporting it. ;)

I'd have some hesitation to call him "booty" as he was quality for the Redskins in 2017 and 2018. I know he has had a down year this year, but I don't think the 8 games or whatever he has played this season are enough to fully write him off. He very well may continue his struggles with the Saints, but at least he is being put on a team with quite a bit of talent around him compared to being in Arizona/Oakland earlier this year, so maybe this is the change of scenery he needs to bounce back.
