I am still confused as to how the Giants could get the pick ahead of us in the event of a tie despite having beat us twice. In literally any other scenario in the NFL and the other major sports, tiebreaker goes to head to head matchups first. This strength of schedule stuff needs to go, or be a secondary tiebreaker in the event two divisional teams split the series. I’ve been saying the same thing for awhile. If one team sweeps another team but they end up with the same record there is absolutely no reason the team that got swept should pick behind the team they lost too. It makes no sense whatsoever...

This strength of schedule stuff needs to go, or be a secondary tiebreaker in the event two divisional teams split the series. In all other sports, the teams are guaranteed to play one and another thus you can use head-to-head as a matchup. In football, that isn't the case. What's interesting is that if they took out strength of schedule before the standard tiebreakers, they would still get strength of schedule as a factor, just 5th or 6th tiebreaker depending on whether the tied teams were in the same division or not. Still would have to go to coin flips if two teams from opposite conferences didn't play and had the same strength of schedule, but at least it would make more sense. Of course, to change this requires the NFL changing their rules. If the Giants do jump ahead of Washington (and Miami is after Washington), there may be some discussion to change this. Until then, it is what it is.
