Browns fire HC Eddie Kitchens and GM John Dorsey

Eliot Wolf is in house and pretty much ready to roll at GM. Alonzo Highsmith is also well- regarded around the league
If those guys take over, then I think it will be HC McCarthy + Wolf in CLE next year. Browns can't drop a rookie HC into that locker room, has to be a vet

We'll see what happens.
Dorsey and Wolf both trained under the same team-building philosophies, so there is some continuity
MM could be good for developing Baker too

Really surprised they are letting Dorsey go after the roster he has been able to build. There were some awful decisions mixed in, and an inability to recognize coaching talent... But still...

Hue was terrible, and was never a good hire either, but its hard to keep jumping to different GMs and coaches, and expect immediate results, regardless of talent.  Every coach and/or GM has a different vision and culture they want to instill the the new team...some players dont fit or dont accept certain cultures.

Certainly not making excuses for Hue or Freddie, but neither shouldve been hired in the first place.

Even as a rival fan, I legitimately feel bad for the crap Browns fans have to put up with.  You have a passionate, loyal base and its one dumpster fire after another.  I believe they should hire a guy like Mike McCarthy, get a good defesive coordinator and give it 5 years.  There is plenty of young talent to work witg, and even if McCarthy isnt some amazing coach, I think he has the abilty to get the Browns to consistent playoff level IF he has the right personnel around him.

Still think they should've kept Dorsey, but we will see who they land on at GM.

What's killing us is that so many GMs, FO guys, and coaches are egomaniacs that simply won't work with us unless we give them more power than they deserve or can handle.  It's hard to justify keeping Dorsey if he insists on controlling who we hire as a coach because he's shown terrible judgement at that.  You find somebody who is good enough at one job like scouting or coaching and they see the Browns as an opportunity to control aspects of the organization that they can't handle.

Then whenever we are halfway there with a good GM or some good coaches we can't fix the dysfunctional half of our organization without nuking the entire team.

Have strong staff with Chud and Norv, maybe even a decent FO guy in Banner, nuke the entire thing because they can't work with Haslem.

Maybe a decent coach with Pettine, nuke the entire thing because you have to get rid of Ray Farmer.  (AND WE HAD KYLE SHANAHAN AT OC BUT HE LEFT BECAUSE FARMER/HASLEM WERE TERRIBLE).

Try to tank with Sashi, then hire a strong minded and bad coach in Hue.  Plan folds on itself because coaching staff can't seem to hack how to use the players we picked and win more than 3 out of 40 games.

Hire Dorsey and make him head of football operations.  Can't hire or keep a qualified coach because they might, God forbid, have their own ideas.  Have to blow the entire thing up just so we don't have a complete noob at coach.

The sad part is that you can actually see that the Haslems want to move out of the way, but they just keep making blunders on who to hire and the scope of their responsibility.  Or just bringing in a mix of people that won't be able to coexist when the going gets tough.  Then when they want to bring qualified replacements the new guys won't work with any of the people that they might not really want to get rid of.  It's a vicious cycle of the Peter Principle playing itself out.

None of this is confirmed by reliable sources, but very telling if true. He is @ing at all of the brown's beat reporters so it's pretty risky to lie about this.

And he's probably going to get a bunch more from actually spewing it if it gains any real traction just in terms of going viral.

Nobody in NFL history had the combination of draft picks and cap space Dorsey inherited, and Dorsey has consistently shown he views players with bad records as discounts. There’s nothing special about the level of talent Dorsey brought in given what he has had.

In the meantime, he completely whiffed on the two most important things on the team by getting the worst QB in recent memory as the first overall pick and one of the worst head coaches in NFL history.

I actually think McCarthy is the one HC hire that would likely signal Wolf's departure.  Word is that they were not exactly bro's.

I could definitely see Wolf stepping into a stripped down GM role paired with a HC hire like McDaniels.  Would be a logical building block for Wolf on his path to a more traditional GM role down the road.

And even if it were true, who cares?  Dorsey was a born and bred football scout...DePodesta was and is a baseball guy.  Binders of analytics can be used to supplement the football scouting eye, but they shouldn't be used to supplant the football scouting eye.

Yikes, this sounds terrible.  What HC would be good with this, and what the heck is a Chief Strategy Officer?

The analytics piece is important to the Browns, because Chief Strategy Officer Paul DePodesta plans to incorporate more of the Moneyball concept in the Browns’ game plans and play calling, and the new coach will have to be on board if DePodesta remains with the team.

I’m super pumped for us to announce our HC hire who will then interview the GM, because, well, Browns.

Apparently DePodesta is in charge of finding the next HC and has a shot of being the next GM.

Baker is the worst QB in recent memory? And yes, Kitchens was bad. But one of the worst in NFL history?
