notthatbluestuff
Have their seasons really been all THAT different? Wilson: 4110 yards, 31 TDs, 5 INT, 106.3 rating Wentz: 4039 yards, 27 TDs, 7 INT, 93.1 rating Wentz has had his team almost completely crippled by injuries; yet, the common perception seems to be that Wilson is a superstar who played at an MVP level this year, while Wentz was mediocre all season. Why is this?
RandomCampBody
Numbers never tell the whole story.
Elky
Wilson was much more efficient.
Tetsujin
RW had 1.3 YPA more. That's pretty significant IMO.
Jlowe22
13 higher passer rating is a huge difference.
Malik
Yes. Wentz stat padded at the end of his season against his terrible division. Wilson has a superior better TD% and a better INT%. Also he still constantly fumbles.
TOUCAN
Because Wentz has feasted on a subpar NFC east while being pretty meh against the rest of his schedule while Wilson has been more consistent.
///mcompact
If you actually watched them play this season you'd see that Wilson is on a different level than Wentz. Wilson single-handily takes over games when everything else fails.

Wilson clearly had the better season, but for what Wentz had to work with he played fantastic. First QB to throw for 4000 yards and not have a single WR get over 500 yards. He had some bad games in the middle of the season, but for the most part he played extremely well this season despite massive regression from his pass catchers in both talent and health. Wentz is a winner, and will continue to be one.

"WeNtZ hAs HaD hIs TeAm AlMoSt CoMpLeTeLy CrIpLeD bY iNjUrIEs" Seattle literally has the second most Man Games Lost out of all teams and according to the size of their circle had more significant injuries too.

It ignores that he had two Tight Ends who both had over 600 yards.

And that stat about Wentz 4K yards no WR, whatever: Wentz straight-up targets TEs and dumps to RBs 25+ times a game. If, for one game, you gave him Julio Jones and Michael Thomas, the leading receiver still be a TE or RB with a ton of YAC. And if you go look at number of targets over the last four games he targeted WRs at a higher rate than before he lost all three of his top WRs. We also run two TEs more than just about any team in the league.... wonder why he throws to TEs so much.... Oh we also had the worst performing WRs in the league this season.... And no I don't just mean statistically. Go watch them play, they ran terrible routes, drop balls regularly, and couldn't track a ball to save their lives. Obviously a lot of this is on coaching, but it is stilla WR problem. Wentz is a winner. No he isn't a top 5 QB, but he gets the job done, even with literally everyone on our offense being hurt and using practice squad guys at skill positions. The guy got it done regardless of who was on the field(outside of three games), that is what it means.

The only quality thing you said there was that Ertz is now done for the season. Just because the Eagles' Physio Staff has been terrible for the entire Pedersen era doesn't mean Wentz gets some magic credit because his Wide Receivers got injured. The best ball catcher of his tenure in Philadelphia still played 15 games this season and nearly went for 1,000 yards; more than likely would have had he played against the Giants. It's disingenuous and has been an attempted built in excuse for Wentz when he doesn't need one.
