Wentz has had his team almost completely crippled by injuries; yet, the common perception seems to be that Wilson is a superstar who played at an MVP level this year, while Wentz was mediocre all season. Why is this?

Am I the only one who read this as a Question, not a bold Statement that Wentz was some how Better in 2019??

He was asking Why the masses (evident by most of the posts in this thread) viewed Carson Wentz as having a "Down Year", Nothing at all that special, Average at best but when you look at the total numbers after 16gms, it clearly wasn't. Despite a decimated Offensive Roster!

I also find it comical that some are trying to suggest Wentz's numbers were because he played in the NFCE but are ignoring the fact Wilson also faced scrub secondaries all year long like Cin, TB, Phil, Atl, Car, AZ x2! It's not meant as  a knock to his season but the facts. Just like Wentz!

TO BE CLEAR, Russell Wilson Was a MVP Candidate all season long,  Wentz was Not!  However there was nothing Average about Carsons season especially considering the circumstances in which he was dealt. Which I think was the OP Original Point? Could be wrong?

He did have an average amount of season-ending injuries this year.

Seattle literally has the second most Man Games Lost out of all teams and according to the size of their circle had more significant injuries too.

yeah? I think his starting receivers played 16 games this season and his starting running back went for 1200 yards playing in 15 games.Skill positions matter. Wentz's receivers struggled all year to stay healthy and when they were healthy they couldn't get separation or dropped key passes.

Volume stats like passing yards and such are almost never a complete (and completely good) picture of quarterback play. Let's take a look at some efficiency stats:

Russell Wilson: 66.1% completion rate on 9.4 Intended Air Yards per Attempt, 6.0% TD rate, 1.0% INT rate, 7.42 ANY/A (116 ANY/A+)

Carson Wentz: 63.9% completion rate on 7.9 Intended Air Yards per Attempt, 4.4% TD rate, 1.2% INT rate, 6.26 ANY/A (100 ANY/A+)

With the exception of interception rate, which Wilson still bested Wentz at, these are pretty significant differences, most notably in Wilson's 1.16-yard advantage in ANY/A, a stat that regarded Wentz as dead-on average. Sure, the pair threw for close numbers of yards, touchdowns, and such, but that becomes suspect evidence at best for them having "similar seasons" when you notice that Wentz attempted 91 more passes.

Don't you think its important to point out that Russell had  better players to throw too? DK Metcalf had a break out rookie season and Lockett had over 1,000. Chris Carson helped with his dominant running game...

That being said, Wilson is a top 3 qb in the league right now.  Wentz is top ten.

There is a minimum of 3 games that put a L in philly's w/L column:

1. Game winning TD pass to Nelson Agholor dropped vs the Falcons

2. Game Winning TD pass to Arcega-Whiteside dropped vs the Lions

3. game Tying TD pass to Agholor Dropped vs NE

3 tds and over 100 -200 yards passing(would improve his YPA to) removed from Wentz stat sheet and a potential 12-4 season
