Tony7188
GREAT hire! This is who I wanted other than Greg Roman. I wanted a HC with NFL experience, instead of a college coach. This offense should be fun to watch.

I'm not a huge fan of the big push, but based on that premise I get it. WH I'm warming up to it. Just watching NFL Network and they are reporting that McCarthy impressed other clubs during interviews. Sometimes you interview someone and know he's your guy. Jerry knew who he wanted all along I think. McCarthy vs Rivera. Let's revive the Cowboys and Redskins rivalry.

He's run both. Currently the LB Coach for a 4-3 team. Miami was also 4-3 IIRC.

McCarthy spoke about him letting others call plays. He said it would be something he would change. He points out if im the coach im the only voice that should be calling the shots. 11min mark Edited January 6, 2020 by eagles suck

(Yes, I actually went over there and wished I hadn't as soon as I walked in the door, but I digress). Anyway, it was an informative post and his ST's were not that good under MM, in his assessment anyway. MM's special team were generally terrible in GB. Dead last in 2018. https://packerswire.usatoday.com/2019/01/23/packers-finish-dead-last-in-rick-gosselins-2018-special-teams-rankings/ Edited January 6, 2020 by {Family Ghost}
acowboys62
At work and can't post the twitter link but he notes in (that interview I believe) @TheAmir reposted something that one of McCarthy's favorite play-calls was from Kellen this year, so hopefully there is a lot he likes about what Kellen was already doing and helps him learn.

I walked away thinking that he cant be the play caller if he isnt part of the offensive meetings. Not that he had to be the playcaller and/pr Moore would be rendered useless. incognito_man
I'm torn. I want to see MM succeed because he's a great coach. But I wanted to see it in the AFC. He's going to have a lot of success with your roster. Congrats on the NFCE crown in 2020 and a deep playoff run.

Not a strong suit for McCarthy, but all told he's a really solid NFL coach who knows how to run a good program. He will be given more resources in Big D than he got in GB. Ted Thompson only sporadically used free agency .. it was a draft and develop program there that worked for many years. It fell apart when Thompson turned in some poor drafts. McCarthy had Favre and Rodgers as his qb's, so it will be interesting to see how does with a little lesser talent at that spot. Some of McCarthy's top moments in GB occurred when he had to go to Matt Flynn for some starts here and there. Nearly beat a great Patriots team in NE with him at the helm .. Beat a good Cowboys team in Big D with him. Got 6 passing TD's out of him against the Lions. McCarthy didn't any such luck with Brett Hundley. He invested years in that guy and when he was called upon he flopped mightily.

roysmyboy31
Might be in the minority, but he was one of my top guys, so I really like the hire. Lot of experience, seems to embrace analytics, and a proven track record of success. Wish we would have brought in some more people for consideration, but MM clearly made a good impression.
