Good pitching wins close games. Stealing signs are the only way you blow someone out unless you're just that much better. We blew out the Dodgers once. All the ALCS and ALDS games that year were close.

I've read a lot of stupid takes on this forum and the old FF forum, but this one gives a serious run for the crown.

Essentially, the report found that replay room operator J.T. Watkins, whose job was to study opposing team’s signs before and after games, would occasionally update his findings by watching live video in the replay room. He would then occasionally relay his findings to a player, and if the Red Sox got a runner to second base, the newfound information could be put to use by signaling to the batter.

In fact, whereas Manfred ripped the Astros’ “very problematic” baseball operations culture, he went out of his way to credit the Red Sox for complying with the investigation and making sure players and coaches understood the sign-stealing rules.

From the report: “I find that the Red Sox front office consistently communicated MLB’s sign-stealing rules to non-player staff and made commendable efforts toward instilling a culture of compliance in their organization.”

In the Red Sox report, Watkins is the main character. Manfred wrote: “I do not find that then-manager Alex Cora, the Red Sox coaching staff, the Red Sox front office, or most of the players on the 2018 Red Sox knew or should have known that Watkins was utilizing in-game video to update the information that he had learned from his pregame analysis.”

“MLB acknowledged the front office’s extensive efforts to communicate and enforce the rules and concluded that Alex Cora, the coaching staff, and most of the players did not engage in, nor were they aware of, any violations. Regardless, these rule violations are unacceptable. We apologize to our fans and Major League Baseball, and accept the Commissioner’s ruling,” Kennedy stated.

Yawn. @GSUeagles14

Uh... Did you read the report? lmao. They found a rogue video operator. They found NOTHING to show the Red Sox had anything even close to resembling what the Astros did. This is awkward...for you.

It was Brady with the equipment guy and it was all on his cell phone :)
