Lol I think people are making a MUCH bigger deal about DePodesta's role in the origination.

If I had to guess, it didn't work because Patton was highly sought after, and wants to leave for the right job, and Haslem has already fired what, 5 General Managers in 7 years?

Why would anyone highly coveted  take the chance to come here...

This, all of it.

He was one of the highest  paid RTs in the league. There’s no excuse letting him walk.

yes there is.  save the money so you can spend in later years when its time to win after you have your QB.  unfortunately we spent 15M of it on Vernon this year cause the nerd left

Or we wouldn’t have to spend it on Hubbard. We didn’t only have 15M to work with.

We basically gave that deal to Hubbard.

schwartz signed a 5yr $33m. Hubbard got 5yr $36.5m

so the money was there. Sashi and co messed that up

tbf coleman could still be reasonable as a starter, just not nearly as good as mcglinchey.  or the nerd would have traded down from four and taken mcglinchey

no, the guy who is known for blowing thru money gave that money to hubbard and everyone rationalized it at the time, and we all knew we did.

Well it looked like Stefanski wanted Paton, and Depo wants Berry.  Great....here we effin go again.

Call it hot takes if you like..but when a story fits your narrative....you take if for gospel....when a story doesn't????

hot takes

Side with the coach, not depo!!! Thought we hired the HC first so we can get the right GM paired with them. Yeah thought we were Changing, getting that alignment, and everyone on the same page.

Blew through the money but also built it with an easy out that we will be getting out of it this season. We haven’t been screwed over. It’s not like we lost a chance at a FA or keeping a guy cause of the money.
