Calvert28
I'm just happy we don't have JG anymore to compete for the Crown he fights so hard for.
Nabbs4u
Doesn't matter where he ranks among HC , he's the Defacto GM. His job is Secure. He won't take the Texans anywhere because his decision making is truly that bad. Texan Fans Just have to Hope McNair doesn't waste several more years treating him like Cincy did Marvin Lewis, Dallas Jason Garrett. Spinning their wheels and wasting what is a talented roster for the most part because he is staying just good enough to compete.
Hukos
At least those AFC South banners are nice and shiny.
DerbyRam
Matt Patricia and Adam Gase are definitely worse IMO. Zac Taylor had a poor year, but I think if he can show something next year then he will be fine.

If you think you have a play on that will work a high percent based on your scouting, and you (correctly) know the game is going to be high scoring with very few defensive stops against KC (which it proved to be), then you know a 24-7 lead is nowhere near safe in that spot. Possessing the ball becomes of the utmost importance in games like that. The Texans didn't execute well enough there, so it's easy to say it was a bad idea with hindsight, but the way the game played out proved that with KC's offense those are the kinds of risks the Texans had to take and succeed at if they wanted to win. If they'd punted it 40 yards instead, the ensuing 7 drives suggest the only difference on KC's next possession would have been a few extra plays to score a TD. If the Texans succeed there they not only prevent Mahomes from scoring in the only effective way (keeping him off the field) but have a chance to go down a build a more secure lead before KC starts their inexorable comeback. Sorenson made a great individual play to stop the conversion- major props to him. However not instantly going for it later 4th and short shows a serious BoB blindspot. No defending that. If going for a fake punt on your own 30 up 24-7 is defendable as a risk you need to take - then you absolutely go for it on 4th and inches at the KC 10 up 21-0, especially if your run game is successful. One play you are going against the weakest part of their D (run stop), the other you are going against the number 2 ST unit in the league (and perennial top 3 Unit by DVOA the last 5 years). If BoB felt that way up 24-7, it should have been a no-brainer to go for it at the KC 10 on 4th and inches up 21-0. That’s the bigger problem context-wise. If it was just 1 play there would be a better argument to defend BoB. When you take the 3 choices (the 3rd - burning a TO after sending out the punt team down 17 on 4th and 4 at the KC 42 with 11 min to go), it’s just an indefensible combination of horrific decision making process-wise. Again it doesn’t make BoB the worst HC in the league - but in terms of worst-coached playoff game, it definitely belongs in the discussion. The guy was up 24-0 at one point and ended up getting completely blown out without any major injuries. A bad game here and there is understandable, but BOB routinely makes the same mistakes every week. Edited January 14, 2020 by Elky

He's in that awful gray area where he's good enough to be moderately competitive and keep his job, but not good enough to win anything meaningful. because the texans ownership is stupid. any competent organization would have been fired him and i guarantee there wouldnt be teams lining up to get him. ClutchDJ
The Texans have won the AFC South 4 times out of the past 6 years. They are also the only team in the AFC South to not make the AFC Championship in that same time span.

Sure, but you can understand how to most casual observers, he does enough look just above mediocre. I mean if he went full Freddie Kitchens, he wouldn't last this long
RuskieTitan
With a division title, playoff win, and support from the quarterback, I firmly believe BOB is due for a contract extension.
Danger
They allowed the 2nd most points per game this season of any team in the playoffs (24.1). They need a new DC that's for sure.

Sports talk radio in Houston has been running these infuriating spots - "get on the priority wait list to see your defending AFC South Champion Houston Texans" mere minutes after that loss. Literally the LAST thing I want to do after that game. That's all ownership seems to want. Regular Season victories that lead to the playoffs, and nothing more. Casual fans will look at the W/L and the division titles and figure things are good. Fans like us (because if you're on a message board with 5,000+ posts, you're not exactly "casual") knows a bit more, but still can't argue against results. This? This is a professional show dog taking a crap on the rug in the middle of the Westminster Dog show. This is throwing up on stage in front of Simon Cowell on America's Got Talent. This was arguably the most embarrassing way to lose a game, one with absolutely no escape hatch to dive into. BoB is a bad coach. Casual fans might see it for the first time ever - but anyone else with more than a passing interest will know this is par for the course since BoB left Penn State.
AFlaccoSeagulls
When you allow 41 unanswered points in a playoff game, you can't seriously get any kind of pass for that.
