Seems very unlikely he sees the 3rd year of that deal then. Something like 14M after 2 more years of heavy touches? I would just tag him. 10M/1yr, and you get him playing like a madman in another contract year again. He's hard to take down because of his nasty stiff arm so defenders are regularly diving at his knees. He could take one hit and then be done. Tag is the safest option, even though it's kind of unfair, it's just the nature of that position.

He's really got little incentive to sign that tender though.  Granted, not enough credit has been given the to the Titans' OL's run-blocking this season, but this isn't a Melvin Gordon situation where the stats belie a player who is better than he actually is.  Henry is the Titans' offense.  He knows it, his agent knows it.  He just got done leading the league in rushing; he's never going to post a stronger season to cash in on (unless he wins an MVP which we all know damn well the NFL isn't awarding to that to a RB anytime in the next decade-plus).  Plus, tagging him means that you're giving more leverage to Tannehill in long-term contract negotiations (when you've - you, specifically, not the Titans - already established reservations about extending him long-term) because they currently have no QB's under contract going into next season, and any QB they bring in in free agency that has franchise QB bona fides, or potential ones, is going to demand top dollar.

Also, the RB franchise tag amount (Gurley's extention cap-hit kicks in, Zeke's extension kicks in, both factor into the equation) is closer to $12.5M than it is $10M.
