diehardlionfan
Earth shattering. I would’ve preferred someone with some experience but once again the Patricia connection seems to carry more weight than experience and results.
LionArkie
I'm pretty disappointed. Kind of makes me think the DC is like the queen of England in Detroit. Is there for looks only and to host the dinner parties.

Yeah I'm usually one of the more optimistic ones in here and even I cant get with this. They better kill this offseason on the defensive side or I'm gonna be very worried about this year. I have more faith in some of the posters in here.
LionArkie
I usually think a new coach should go with coordinators with a lot of experience to help them. A lot of times this is the case. Do you all think this is a reflection on Patricia's ego? i'm beginning to believe he thinks himself as some sort of genius and whoever he hires will be fine because he is the mastermind. This is why I'm hoping he does some serious self scouting. Itd be a shame if even a rocket scientist cant fix us lol
Lions017
Not a terrible move, probably not a great one. I wasn't excited for Bevell and he has worked out great. They probably had a difficult time attracting big names for the job - everyone knows that Patricia and Quinn are gone (almost certainly with the coordinators) if they fail next year.
Just Want A Title
I thing the most important thing about this move will be if Matt Patricia will be willing to make significant changes to his scheme to fit the players he has rather than fitting the players to his scheme. Granted we had a ton of issues with the interior of our D-Line but there was some talk that teams were starting to figure out the scheme. It is time for the scheme to evolve, become more unpredictable and more aggressive.

Karnage84
I didn't know too much about the guy so I decided to do a little research Denver Broncos DB Coach 2013 - 2014 2013 - 27th in Ypg; 12th in INT; 0 Pro Bowlers 2014 - 9th in Ypg; 7th in INT; 2 Pro Bowlers - Aqib Talib and TJ Ward Philadelphia Eagles DB Coach 2015 - 2019 2015 - 28th in Ypg; 10th in INT; 1 Pro Bowler - Malcolm Jenkins 2016 - 13th in Ypg; 9th in INT; 0 Pro Bowler 2017 - 17th in Ypg; 4th in INT; 1 Pro Bowler - Malcolm Jenkins 2018 - 30th in Ypg; 25th in INT; 1 Pro Bowler - Malcolm Jenkins 2019 - 19th in Ypg; 22nd in INT; 0 Pro Bowler Average: 20th in Ypg; 13th in INT; 0.71 Pro Bowlers In comparison, the Lions are 32nd in Ypg for 2019 and tied at 30th for INT's.

Those are passing YPG - Just to clarify. The Eagles fans don't seem to be too hurt over his departure so I don't know whether that's a good thing for us. There is such a thing as recency bias and the units did struggle the last two years. Otherwise, they've been good at takeaways and middle of the road in YPG. With a "bend but don't break" philosophy, you're willing to compromise on that a little bit.
LionArkie
I've always hated bend don't break. I prefer shove your face in the dirt behind the line of scrimmage, but that's just me.
