I guess I didn't quite realize what the front seven was going to look like heading into this offseason. Seeing it listed out like this... woof. That's the priority folks.

Yeah it's not good, that's for sure. But I'd rather find FA's there and focus on IOL more than anything tbh. Those 2 can be priorities together.

Need more quality bodies in the front seven though. Even if Yanda retires there's only one, maybe two spots open on the offensive line. Still needs to be addressed but boy howdy the defense needs a lot of help there.

Exactly. It’s the reason we lost to the Titans. The fact that we blitzed on something like 50% of downs and yet we’re only 21st in sacks is pathetic. Building with a focus of importance on the secondary is important, but we also need to put heavy emphasis on the front 7.

Agreed on front 7. Do not pay Judon and Pierce long expensive contracts please, please, please. You do not pay not elite players, elite contracts. That's how you become a bad team. Barring a shocking BPA, two of our first three picks should revolve around the trenches.

I think OL and front seven can both be priorities equally going into the draft and FA. We need to consistently have a good offensive line (which honestly with the coaching we have there and Mekari's ability to just fill in seamlessly I kind of am worried less about it), and defensively we saw what can happen when you have dominant guys on the interior of the line (Simmons, Daquon Jones, etc.) who can get pressure.

We need that. Like I've been saying for years now, when we traded away Tim Jernigan and opted to roll with nobodies playing DT/DE for us, it bit us because it completely gave away our ability to get interior pressure on a QB. But now we also need edge rushers since Tim Williams and Tyus Bowser didn't pan out, and Judon's gonna cash in elsewhere.

EDIT: Looks like we'll be making a run at Judon:

FWIW Harbaugh also said something like, “we’d want him back but we know the business end of it.” As well as when later asked how hard Harbaugh believes it would be to retain Judon given the likely market, “very hard”.

So I don’t think that quote means much of anything, especially since Harbaugh hasn’t control over that particular situation... plus they haven’t even had their Juno, FL meeting yet, so still much to be determined regarding the offseason plan.

Harbaugh wanted to retain ZDS and Mosley as well. It's one of the few areas where he has very little influence though, as you noted. I think and hope Judon is gone. Good player, who I would categorize as a defensive weapon. Which while valuable, doesn't warrant the franchise money he's likely going to get. He's a really smart player with great straight line burst. Who excels at stunts, free runs to the QB/HB, blowing up screens, and beating over matched TEs asked to pass protect. He struggles against the run, is limited in coverage, and is about a 6.5/7 on a 10 scale when it comes to just straight up beating Tackles in 1 on 1 in passing situations. Very little bend & explosive COD to his game, and he lacks the pure bulling power to compensate. Pretty one note as far as his tool box goes too. This isn't a ZDS situation where we've seen strong technical progression each season. He'll always be capped as a pure rusher imo.

Overall a great return on a late round pick, but one of the clearest "gone for an overpay" candidates we've had in years. Should net us a great comp pick.

Trade Judon + pick #28 to the Raiders for pick #12 and draft CeeDee Lamb.

This trade would be valuing Judon as a late 1st/early 2nd round value... I doubt we could get that type of value for him, but if we can I would much rather take the early 2nd. There’s enough high level WR prospects in this class. The additional pick would allow us to throw more shots at the pass rush bucket.
