If Thibs doesn't pan out, fans and ownership won't look back and see that they were similarly ranked, and even if they did the fact they were similarly ranked would be criticized by itself. You can't pass up a potential #1 pick who's right in your own back yard when your team is desperate for talent and a face of the organization. Take the player that's ranked higher on your board.
