Supposed full lineup for the proposed May 9th card that would take place at the UFC Apex. Uncle Dana is trying to get the same treatment as Vince McMahon in Florida with the whole "essential" business stuff.

The thing that doesn't make sense to me is that location wasn't even really the issue. That casino was ready and willing to host the event. ESPN pulled the plug and I can't see them approving this unless a state athletic commission is on board.

He realistically should have never been stripped of his title, he should have been put as the champion and Khabib the interim guy, especially since they fought the same night in their next outing. The UFC kept the belt on Cruz and Conor for ages but strip Tony at the drop of a hat? Never got that

Meh. The UFC's plan was always to leave UFC 223 with a single champion at 155. They were stripping Conor of the undisputed title and the interim title was no longer needed as you'd have a new undisputed champion. The interim title really is only a place holder for when the current champion is going to be out for an extended period of time. Khabib had just won the belt and was the undisputed champion, thus no need for an interim champion as well. Neither Cruz or Conor were interim champions when they weren't stripped and were the reason there was an intern champion in their divisions in the first place.

Tony ultimately screwed himself by refusing to take the fight against Porier for the interim belt at 236. Which really made no sense when he took a fight against Cowboy at 238 with nothing on the line. He would've fought Khabib at 242 if it weren't for his stubborn management team.

Ferguson cut 24 pounds in 5 days for a fight that isnt happening? Dude Tony, I love you but man that wasn't a good idea. Cutting that much weight twice in a month yeesh

Yeah that was a terrible decision. Cutting 24 pounds for a non-existent fight on April 18, then regaining that weight, and cutting it again 21 days later at 36 years old? If the fight happens I'm expecting Gathje to clip him early and win by TKO.

Yea that makes sense. Not like ESPN is going to change their mind on it, I'm just tired of getting my hopes up since this is the only thing that is remotely possible of happening.

If thats what happens you can wonder about the weight cut but still that was Gaethje's best chance. Tony is most vulnerable in the beginning and its been that way almost every fight he's been in. Even in the Lando fight he was rocked early. Now Gaethje has a tendency to KO people instead of just TKO so thats no good for Tony
