Whicker
London Monarchs Offense Keys to the Game Running heavy at Dee Ford. Attack the middle of the field in passing game, LBs, slot CBs, Ss. This week we face division rival Cuba. We are going to again focus on a run-leaning offense this week, led by our triple headed monster in the backfield. CJ Anderson and Ty Montgomery have an extremely versatile skillset and are accomplished enough in the passing game to punish defences that do not keep track of them. Rob Kelley is our bruising short yardage back. The Cuba defense is generally pretty solid, however we feel we can have success running the ball at a light Dee Ford. We have a heavy o-line so feel confident of getting push in the running game on a variety of running plays however the size difference over Ford in particular is very enticing. Cuba has a couple of very adept CBs but after those the depth chart gets thin fast. We therefore will be targeting the middle of the field on passing plays. We want to get after the slot receiver or any mismatches if Cuba leave Delanie Walker on a LB or S. Mariota will also have the option to pull the ball down and run, something he did not do enough successfully last week. Defense Keys to the Game Attacking their interior o-line. Blitz Cousins - keep him off balance and don't give Cuba time for their receivers routes to develop The strength of this Cuba team is certainly its receivers. However, the person throwing the ball, Cousins, can run very hot and cold. We are going to stop the Cuba passing game by getting after Cousins and affecting his timing. If we can get enough hits then we anticipate Cousins’ accuracy waning and our secondary will get opportunities to turn the ball over. If we heavily reduce his time in the pocket, he will be forced into dumpoffs to the RBs, Cook can be dangerous in such a situation however we will be ready to swarm the ball carrier and take him down for small gains. We are going to get after Cousins through the centre of his line, this is an area of weakness for Cuba and we expect our defensive tackles to win early and often. We will also be calling linebacker blitzes through the centre to further stress this weakness. Mack and Hughes are handfuls in the passing game and will have Cousins focussing on stepping up into the pocket. Our focus this week is to have someone to meet him when this occurs. Pressure and hits are a huge focus of our gameplan. On the backend, we will be playing sides with our corners. Earl Thomas will play deep safety and on some plays will be bracketing over the top of Julio Jones.Lon Cuba Smugglers Offense Kirk Cousins, love or hate is a starting QB in NFL and BDL. For this reason we must explain the importance of offensive line. Joe Thomas and David DeCastro are amongst the best blockers in the NFL. Eric Wood and James Carpenter are also rock solid starters with Rob Havenstien completing one of the top lines in this league. That being said we also own as talented a receiving corp as one can find. Julio/Benjamin/Pryor are respective number one receivers. With two of them starting and Pryor serving as a substitute, passing the ball is always a reasonable option. Against solid/upper tier CBs our receivers tend to own size advantages, thus we think if Cousins gets into a rhythm he can shred a defense. Finally because our passing game and a credible offensive line, establishing a run game is legitimately possible. Dalvin Cook is the bell cow. Tevin Coleman is the spellback and Frank Gore is the 3rd down, veteran leadership for our starters. Gameplan Throw at Karlos Dansby early and often. Protect Cousins with with quick passes and establish the receivers (Julio and/or Benjamin/Pryor). Test Joe Haden often in single coverage. Avoid Earl Thomas. Establish Dalvin Cook with counters and toss plays. Aim for 20 touches and Coleman is the spell back while Gore is a pass catch specialist. Defense In the trenches Fletcher Cox and Calais Campbell bring a nastiness that starts with run defense. Cox has had success against Zack Martin in recent meetings, and Martin is the strongest player on London's line. To combat Marcus Mariota's obvious dual threat abilities we will move Campbell inside to give more run to stud run defender Jordan Jenkins. Kyle Long's absence is massive in this area. Across from Dee Ford we own enough athleticism to chase Mariota as a runner and with Suggs in the game rush the passer. CJ Anderson is well respected as a rusher. We're also keen of Ty Montgomery for his versatility. On early downs and rushing situations B.J. Goodson and Brandon Marshall are the starting LBs. Chris Baker will play more snaps and allows us to feature Cox. He will get a couple reps as an edge defender. On some passing downs we will use 3 DL (Cox/Baker/Campbell) to create more coverage help in the form of Burnett at WLB, Ladarius Webb at FS, and Joyner moving to SS. Sherman and Trufant play sides as London owns competent receivers across the board. Cooks gets extra attention in the slot, and Anthony Brown has speed if he moves outside. Sherman has the most "shadow" opportunities but he will not follow Moncrief for the entire game. Finally with our secondary we aren't extremely concerned about the matchups. Brandin Cooks is a dangerous deep threat but we own CBs that limit what one receiver can do to a defense. Trufant in particular has stellar history against Cooks. This is a very unique offense because their versatility. For scheme versatility Webb moves to NCB and Joyner to the starting lineup. Like last week the few times Joyner becomes a NCB will be for blitz and possible run defense against open formations (4/5 WR or no RB sets). If hidden in the slot to avoid Sherman/Trufant we will double Cooks, and may throw a triple coverage on a 2-3 plays to emphasize limiting his presence. Sherman against Moncrief. Gameplan Slow down Mariota and CJ Anderson. Bracket cover Brandin Cooks. Alert of Cooks deep threat. Distrust Londons tempo with a deep talented DL. Cover boundary options with Trufant and Sherman. Sherman covers Moncrief. Only double and significant alertness of Walker on passing downs and redzone.
DingoLadd
Cuba has an outstanding gameplan and I'll go with them this week. Though London's defense keeps it close, I think Mariota just isn't able to overcome Cuba's defense.
Jlash
I think Cuba's CB's match up really well with the outside weapons that London brings. Both have really good defenses, but Cuba holds the offensive edge in my mind and won't let Mariota pace them in this one.
TedLavie
Going with Cuba, their D is good and even though London plan to attack the middle of the field is smart, I don't know if they will are good enough to do that consistently, especially with Cox and sometimes Calais pressuring inside. Cuba quick passing game works here as both Jones and, to a lesser extent, Benjamin have the edge over their corners, allowing them to keep drive going. London defensive front is strong (aside from Hughes) vs the run but counters and toss kind of limit the impact of the interior DL. It's close but I like Cuba a bit more here, 27-20. PR
This game lives and dies with the o-line. With Cuba's o-line being more questionable here against London's fearsome pass rush I have to give this game to London.

Scoundrel
This one is tough for me. Just plain and simple. I like Cubas offense and those giant receivers. That secondary for London would get hurt. However London can bring some pressure here to help them out. I like Cubas game plan better and I think they can scheme enough to win this one but it would be close.
Hockey5djh
After reading the rosters I had in my head that if London's gameplan was to attack the middle of the field in the passing game they would win. Cuba's writeup literally won the game for me. I think their big WRs could pace the offense rather than letting Mariota and London lead the charge. Very good gameplan. Xmad
I really like Cuba's gameplan, but I feel like London has a really good counter to it. London 24-20.
Ragnarok
Matchup for the week imo. Evenly matched teams and two great write ups. I think the secondary for Cuba will be able to limit London a bit more and they get the nod.
Whicker
BJ Goodson was inactive this week, leaving Cuba with just two active ILBs. London went run heavy which is very good against a pass rushing D-line and a thin linebacker corp. On the other hand, London's corners are all starting the year pretty slowly and Cuba has a pair of great receivers. In the end I think I'm going to go London based on their run heavy strategy. They control the clock and methodically wear down Cuba's linebackers as the game goes on. On the other side, Cuba gets a few big plays, but the London pass rush ultimately limits the few opportunities that the Smugglers get.
WFLukic
I'm very torn but I think both teams are going to have some success with run heavy approaches and I think London and Cuba go toe to toe for the most part and I think Cuba by way of having the stronger secondary and receiver group are able to give them the upper hand when its time to pass late in the game and are able to hold on with a late field goal. 20-17.
