I think Williams is the better run stopper these days. Timmons isn't the missile he once was, and was always prone to overpursuit. jebrick Posted December 4, 2017 Share Posted December 4, 2017 I watched a lot of film from last year and Timmons was still moving sideline to sideline pretty well. Granted, part of the reason he was a step slow is because they had him attempting to cover WRs, in other words, misused. Even Shazier can't do that consistently. Timmons was slow as molasses compared to Shazier even in his prime. I just hope Shazier is ok. He IS the defense now, just like Polamalu used to be. If we're down Shazier and Haden, we're DOA. Magnus-Viktor Posted December 5, 2017 Share Posted December 5, 2017 My thoughts on Matakevich replacing Shazier was "we went from the fastest LB in the NFL, to the slowest". It isn't good when you lose your wildcard like Shazier. Are we sure Timmons can run at all at this point. He was clearly slowing down before.
