SaveOurSonics
A few notes I'll make. I've done extensive armchair scouting on RB, WR, DE, and OT (still working through this position). I tend to hate how the Seahawks draft early (and for good reason, our success on day 1 of the draft is dreadful). Here's some of my position thoughts of those I've scouted: RB Cam Akers and AJ Dillon are two guys who fit the athletic profile we would typically pursue, but boy would I be underwhelmed by either player. Rashaad Penny was a guy I liked in the 2nd/3rd round of the 2017 draft, but was overdrafted due to his athletic profile. The same will be true of Akers and Dillon. Akers is absolutely dreadful in pass protection and struggles to create yards through contact. Dillon is track fast for his size, but you don't see that convert over to the game tape too often. Jonathan Taylor would be an ideal fit for us, but I'm not sure we spend that kind of draft capital at the RB position again (Taylor is my #1 rated back). In the middle rounds, I love DeeJay Dallas and Lamical Perine. Big-bodied, between-the-tackles thumpers that consistently create yards after contact. Both guys are also stout in pass pro and add a useful receiving element to their game. Slightly later than that, I appreciate Keyshawn Vaughn's build and potential. However, not sure he fits our mold. Beyond that, I really like James Robinson's game out of Illinois St. He doesn't give you much of a straight-line speed element, but he's very similar to Chris Carson coming out. Big-bodied thumper with featherweight feet and performed well in the explosion drills at the Combine. WR Considering the top-heavy nature of this class, I'm really hoping we take advantage of this class in the first 3 rounds. My presumption is that Lamb, Jeudy, Ruggs, and Jefferson will be gone by the time we pick. I think Tee Higgins is getting seriously slept on. I actually have him as my #4 WR just behind Ruggs, but he's being pegged as more of a Round 2 guy. He has an incredible catch radius, tracks the ball with the best of them, and dominates in 1-on-1 situations. Denzel Mims would provide scary potential opposite DK and give us another sizable receiver who wins in contention, with a bit of a higher ceiling than Higgins. I like Reagor, Shenault, and Aiyuk, but not relative to where I feel you'd have to select them (late 1st-early 2nd round). In the late 2nd-early 3rd round range, I would absolutely love Texas' Devin Duvernay as a similar weapon that Deebo Samuel became for SF last year. He is ferocious with the ball in his hands and timed really well. In that same range, I really like Michael Pittman's potential and he again gives us another size compliment to DK. Later in the 3rd or even 4th, guys like Florida's Van Jefferson and Boise State's John Hightower stand out as very suitable fits. I have Jefferson graded higher due to his route running prowess, but Hightower is very similar to Kenny Golladay coming out and I think his deep ball expertise would excel in our system. These are guys who might be 2nd/3rd rounders in most classes. After those two guys, there's a pretty steep drop off for starter-level talent. I see Chase Claypool as an experiment bound to fail. Athletic specimen but needs a ton of refinement to ever be a useful full-time receiver. Two small-school guys I have my eyes on late in the draft are Southern Mississippi's Quez Watkins and Rhode Island's Aaron Parker. Watkins gives you lid-lifting speed and underrated ball skills. Parker will definitely need some technique work, but he's a sturdy possession receiver type that would fit a similar mold to how we used Josh Gordon last year. LT Very fair to assume that Becton, Wills, Thomas, and Wirfs are well off the board by the time we pick (I have them in that order fwiw). Houston's Josh Jones doesn't fit our profile at all and I think he's being overrated by the scouting industry at large with his poor handwork and age. Southern Cal's Austin Jackson needs a LOT of technical work, but he's an athletic ball of clay with good bloodlines who would be a great fit for us in the late 1st round. As mentioned, I still have a lot more work to do here. Planning on watching Ezra Cleveland, Isaiah Wilson, Lucas Niang, and Matt Peart here in the next 24 hours. DE Still need to do work here, so I'll be curious if anyone has names worth watching. Penn State's Yetur Gross-Matos is perhaps my top priority in round 1, which is why I know we won't end up with him. Realistically, he's the 2nd best DE prospect in this class after Chase Young and should be off the board before we ever get a chance. A guy who really fits the Seattle mold and seems to just be scratching the surface on his potential is Alabama DE Terrell Lewis. Great overall frame and wingspan. Plays with incredible leverage. He will require quit a bit of coaching, however, as his pass rush arsenal is unrefined and, perhaps most notably, his ability to identify the play and seek out the football is lacking. Overall, Lewis is a guy I can definitely see us walking away with in the late 1st-early 2nd if we do presumably trade down. Notre Dame's Julian Okwara seems to be more bark than bite in the tape I was able to watch. With that said, he has tremendous arm length and hand size and showed flashes of dominance. Florida's Jonathan Greenard might not fit our traditional athletic profile, but I thought the same of LJ Collier last year. If the FO continues to prioritize length, nobody is quite as freakish as Greenard his ratio of height to arm length. Greenard also plays with tremendous play recognition skills and is sturdy as hell in run defense. This is a guy who plays the game more like chess than checkers, setting his opposition up with different looks every single play to keep them guessing and off balance. I would love for us to add Greenard to this defense, but I'm skeptical due to his low-ceiling athletic profile for the LEO position. I'm hopeful we stay away from Louisiana's K'Lavon Chaisson and fully expect us to steer clear of guys like Boise's Curtis Weaver and Utah's Bradlee Anae. SaveOurSonics
Falling in love with Prince Tega Wanogho's tape. Definitely raw from a technical standpoint, but he comes with lightning quick feet and arguably the most powerful run blocker in this class. I'm skeptical we would add him considering his lack of length (33.5" arms) but he looks like a guy who could be an effective starter at either RT or G with definitive potential to be groomed as the future LT behind Duane Brown. animaltested
@SaveOurSonics Doing a Mock Draft using your inputs : 1.27. TRADE => With Jordan Love somehow sitting there at 1.27 ; sent 27 to the Colts for 2.44 and 3.75. 2.44 EDGE Terrell Lewis Gets a year to slowly work his way into the rotation, playing behind Mayowa + Irvin 2. 59 IDL Justin Madubuike Comes in as a the heir apparent to Jarran Reed. 2. 64 With Jacob Eason sitting there, moved 64 to the Chargers for 3.71 and 5.151 3.71 WR Devin Duvernay Underneath guy to work in with DK and Tyler. With Dorsett and Moore, no pressure to come in day 1 and produce. 3.75 OT Matt Peart Year 1 should push Brandon Shell on the right side. 3.101 OG Robert Hunt Will compete day 1 for the LG spot with Haynes. 4.133 IDL Leki Fotu 1 Tech ability. Replacement for Al Woods 4.144 WR John Hightower Vertical WR to compete with David Moore. 4th Round WR bad mojo be damned. 5.151 OG Damien Lewis Another heavy handed guard to come in and compete. 6.214 S Josh Metellus Pete loves his safeties. Neglected adding late picks. Would have preferred to add an early to mid 6th to take Perine or Robinson. Nick Harris over Damien Lewis probably makes sense as awell. Probably should have traded out of 133 or 144 to pick up more late capital. Edited April 6, 2020 by animaltested
