NFL Draft

Two more days, two more mocks. Tried to change it up a bit here. I actually really liked the way this played out.

1.27 TRADE for 1.35 + 3.85

2.35 WR Jalen Reagor - Russell gets another weapon. DK, Lockett, Reagor would be a nice trio

2.59 DL Raekwon Davis

3.64 TRADE for 3.79 + 5.153 + 5.173

3.79 EDGE Jon Greenard

3.85 LB Willie Gay Jr - LB has some depth issues. Gay - Barton - Wagner is a good set moving forward into 2021

3.101 DT Davon Hamilton

4.133 WR Antonio Gibson - Loved Zierleins profile [4 Phase Player KR, PR, Kick + Punt Coverage] , Interesting weapon on offense. Seems like a Seahawks player.

4.144 S L'Jarius Sneed - Versatile defender. Could be a Single High.

5.153 RB Patrick Taylor Jr - Sounds like a little bit like Carson did coming out.

5.173 DB Julian Blackmon - Another versatile DB.

6.214 DE Nick Coe - Could be a contributor with some work.

I actually have Antonio Gibson as my 8th rated RB in this class, ahead of guys like Cam Akers and AJ Dillon. His size/speed combo is elite regardless of what position you throw him at and he averaged over 11 YPC last season with Memphis. Dude has scary potential.

For a bit, Shotty started using a lot more jet sweeps and screens (kinda got away from it for some reason). That would be Gibson's strength. Would like to see Lockett moved off PR , KR duties as well for usage reasons. Could be a poor mans Golden Tate - Leon Washington hybrid? IDK.

I think confining Gibson to a gadget player would be limiting his potential. He might take a year or two to fully grasp it (he didn't play much his first year after transferring to Memphis because he struggled to get the playbook), but he has elite RB traits if/when he does. Start him out as a moving chess piece + special teamer with room for a lot more.

Notre Dame's Khalid Kareem is very interesting. Really can't tell if I love or hate him. Elite size profile and shows flashes of brilliance in utilizing his reach. With that said, he was a very spotty performer, seems to lack a killer instinct, and frequently plays slow/hesitant.

He's a guy who I would love for us to develop as a 3rd rounder.

Less than 48 hours my dudes.

1.27 TRADE => 2.35 + 3.85 + 7.25

2.35 TRADE => 2.46 + 3.95

2.46 EDGE Josh Uche ; Michigan

2.59 DE Jabari Zuniga ; Florida

2.64 DL Raekwon Davis ; Alabama

3.85 WR Michael Pittman ; USC

3.95 LB Willie Gay Jr ; Miss St

3.101 DT Leki Fotu ; Utah

4.133 DB Terrell Burgess ; Utah

4.144 TRADE => 5.165 + 6.206

5.165 WR Joe Reed ; Virginia

6.206 OT Alex Taylor ; SC State

6.214 RB Patrick Taylor Jr ; Memphis

7.235 TE Charlie Taumoepeau ; Portland State

Hitting UM, Florida, Alabama, USC MSU. Utahx2 screams Seattle haha.

Uche - Zuniga - Davis - Fotu completely revamp the depth along the DL. A lot of Versatility as Uche can kick back to off Ball LB, Davis can kick Right (1TECH) or L (5TECH) in a pinch, and Zuniga can start at the 5 TECH and bulk up to eventually kick inside to 3Tech. I love the idea of grabing a big bodied 1TECH to act as a nice counter balance to Poona Ford.

Pittman can play that 2nd outside spot, big upgrade on Malik Turner + Jarran Brown from last year. Joe Reed steps in to takeover KR PR duties, and will be an asset on coverage units.

Gay is a high upside athlete at the position. Burgess has a lot of versatility and could push Amadi in the SLOT.

Just thinking here, would you guys be ok with Seattle missing out on this OT, WR class if early runs allow Seattle to squeeze out plus value trading back in the 1st and 2nd? Teams could be frantic in pushing up into runs on both positions. I think John could pick up a lot of value by letting other teams fight for the scraps at those positions.

Depends what you mean by missing out. I'd be fine with us missing out on the OT group because there's really only 5 who are pro-ready and fit our scheme (Josh Jones, Ezra Cleveland, and Austin Jackson would be poor fits or, in Jackson's case, just a huge project).

It would be upsetting to see the WR class come and go. I don't even mean the general consensus top 10 guys either. I really want Devin Duvernay and I know I'm going to be disappointed if I'm so focused on one player but hey, it worked last year with DK (though boy was I upset with the Blair pick).

Even if it's not a guy like Duvernay, I hope we can walk out with a John Hightower or Bryan Edwards or Freddie Swain or even Van Jefferson. Give us another competitive body in that WR room.

I've bolded the guys who are a classic fit for this team. I don't see us pursuing a satellite back with Travis Homer on the team, but we should be in line for another big bodied 3-down skill set type back. If we're happy with the expected recoveries of Carson and Penny, I would expect us to wait on this position until at least the 4th round, which means we're likely looking at someone like Dallas, Perine, Vaughn, and Robinson based off what I've seen from pre-draft reports.

I have no idea what type of WR we might be looking for (you'd assume a big-bodied type here as well with guys like Lockett, Dorsett, and Ursua already on the roster), but we've been known to litter the WR room with smaller shifty guys so I won't rule anything out. I've simply bolded the players who I think would be a great fit and great value. Freddie Swain in particular is flying way under the radar but has a very similar game to our own Doug Baldwin. I didn't bold any of the top 5 WRs who I fully expect to be gone by the time we're on the clock.

17. Saahdiq Charles // LSU
18. Charlie Heck // North Carolina
19. Terence Steele // Texas Tech
20. Trey Adams // Washington
21. Yasir Durant // Missouri

I'd love to land Prince. Isaiah fits what this team looks for at RT. Brandon Bowen is the only late-round guy I'd be really interested in acquiring. Adeniji is nice depth and fits our model but I think he's ultimately a guard. Alex Taylor is a big project but could be worth it. Saahdiq Charles has reportedly put on 30lbs since the college season which could make him a really interesting product (he was playing LT at 290lbs previously).

Thinking about missing snaps from 2019-2020 and obviously DLINE is where the most 2020 snaps need to be filled. Clowney - Woods - Jefferson is a huge chunk. Thinking the ideal depth chart currently is ...

LDE - Rasheem Green -- 1TECH Poon Ford -- 3TECH Jarran Reed -- RDE LJ Collier

LEO - Benson Mayowa -- 1TECH Bryan Mone -- 3TECH Demarcus Christmas -- RDE Brandon Jackson

This is under the assumption Bruce Irvin returns to his Weakside Rush Backer position he played before, essentially replacing Kendricks. Decided to put Green and Collier on the edges on early downs with Mayowa playing mostly on passing downs.

Thinking about replacements:

For Clowney [Uche, Greenard, Lewis, Okwara, Anae, Robinson, Taylor, Gipson] for those LEO Snaps

For Woods [Davis,Hamilton, Fotu, Madubuike, Blacklock, Washington, Agim, Tart)

For Jefferson [Davidson, Zuniga, Kareem, Strowbridge]

Hopefully Seattle can leave the draft with three of these guys.

I think any team that tries to play Uche as a full-time on-ball player is going to be disappointed. Anae, Robinson, and Taylor would also be disappointing resort options for LEO.

The DLine you put down is downright awful. We are desperate to add someone like Ngakoue, Griffen, or Clowney (and I'm still confident we will).

With that assumption in mind, I expect iDL and LDE to be the priorities.
